Melvin Lee Muir, age 85 of Wheatfield, NY, was called to his heavenly home on December 10, 2022 while at Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, NY. Born in Bolivar, PA on February 26, 1937; son of the late Glen and Nora Muir. Melvin served in the United States Air Force from 1955-1957, and moved to Western NY in the 1950's. He was employed at Durez, and Town of Amherst Property Management. He was a long time member of Pendleton Center United Methodist Church, where he served as an usher. Melvin was also a member of Rescue Fire Company in North Tonawanda for over 50 years, and the Durez Retirees. He enjoyed being outdoors and working around his house. Survivors include his wife, Sharon (Herman) Muir. They were married July 7, 1979; a son, David (Kathy) Muir; three step-children, Sherrill (Jim) DeVantier, Tamara (James) Heim, and Greg (Sheeri) Martin; a sister, Donna (Tony) Penich of PA; two grandchildren, Eric and Nicole; five step-grandchildren, Tim, Kelli, Gregory, Jamie, and Alyssa; five great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Joseph and Michael Muir.Friends may call at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield, on Wednesday (December 14) from 3-8 p.m. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Mike Clifford, on Thursday (December 15) at 10:30 a.m. in Pendleton Center United Methodist Church, 6864 Campbell Blvd., North Tonawanda, NY 14120. Interment will take place in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Niagara Falls Blvd., Town of Wheatfield, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church, or to the Rescue Fire Company, 1241 Strad Avenue, North Tonawanda, NY 14120.
