    NORTH TONAWANDA-A
    certificate of suicide has been
    issued in the death of 26-year-
    old Lewis Joseph Baum Jr., 82
    fuller Ave., who was pro-
    nounced dead on arrival Sun-
    day (March 20, 1960) at De-
    Graff Memorial Hospital.
    Mr. Baum was taken to the
    hospital in a Twin City Am-
    vulance after he was found
    lying on the floor of the fam-
    iy garage. His head was cov-
    ered by a plastic motor cover,
    into which the exhaust pipe
    of his car was inserted.
    When the body was discov-
    ered by his mother, Mrs. Lil-
    ian Baum, the car ignition
    was on but the gas tank was
    empty. the car radio was still
    playing faintly.
    Dr. John C. Kinzly, county
    coroner, pronounced Mr. Baum
    dead at the hospital and is-
    sued a certificate of death by
    suicide from carbon monoxide
    poisoning.
    Friends said they knew no
    reason why Mr. Baum would
    take his own life. He was des-
    cribed as generally good na-
    tured.
    Born in this city, he was
    graduated from old North
    Tonawanda High School in
    1953. He served in Germany
    with the U.S. Army from 1956-
    1958. He was a member of St.
    Francis of Asissi Church. He
    was employed by the Loblaw
    Bakery, Buffalo.
    In addition to his mother,
    surviving are his father, Lew-
    is J. Baum Sr.; a brother, Ron-
    ald D. Baum; and a sister,
    Miss Mary L. Baum, all at
    home. Also surviving is his
    grandfather, Louis C. Baum,
    Niagara Falls.
    Prayers will be said at 9
    a.m. Wednesday at the Hamp
    Funeral Home, followed by
    Requiem Mass at 9:30 a.m. at
    St. Francis Church. Burial
    will be in Mt. Olivet Ceme-
    tery.

    Louis C. Baum, 81, of 419
    Fourth St., a retired .Niagara
    Falls Gazette printer, died at
    his home Tuesday (Nov. 10,
    1964). Death was attributed to
    a heart- attack.
    Mr. Baum was born in Germany
    Nov. 20, 1882, and had
    lived in Niagara Falls for 72
    years. He retired from the
    Gazette in 1959 after 26 years
    service.
    Prior to joining the Gazette
    he. was employed24 years
    at the former American Salesbook
    Co. in Niagara Falls.
    Mr. Baum was a 64-year
    member of Local 233, International
    Typographical Union,
    AFL-CIO;.a member of the
    Gazette 25 Year Club, Moose
    Lodge 838 and the Retired
    Men-'s Club.
    He is survived by two sons,
    Lewis Baum, Tonawanda, also
    a printer, and Nelson Baum,
    a television art director in
    New York City; a sister, Mrs.
    Julia Mosolf, Niagara- Falls,
    and two grandchildren.
    Services will be held at
    Cobler's Funeral Home at 2
    p.m. Friday by Rev. Carl Olin,
    assistant pastor of Zion Lutheran
    Church. Burial will be
    in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
    Friends may call at the
    funeral home from 2 to 5 and
    7 to 9 p.m. today and Thursday.

    Mrs. Mary O. Baum, wife of Louis
    O. Baum, of 2830 Whirlpool street,
    died at her home at 7 o'clock this
    morning after an illness of some
    four months. Mrs. Baum, who was
    well known, with a large circle of
    friends, had been a resident of this
    city since 1902.
    Funeral services will be held from
    the family residence at 8:30 a. m.
    Tuesday and at 9 o'clock from 8t.
    Teresa's church. Interment will be
    In Riverdale cemetery.
    Surviving Mrs. Baum, besides her
    husband, are two sons, Louis J.
    Baum, of Tonawanda, and Nelson
    J. Baum, of Los Angeles, Calif.:
    two brothers and a sister, Joseph
    BUow, of Rochester, N. Y., Mrs.
    Charles Reed, of Grand Mere, Que.,
    and Nelson J. Berube, of this city;
    two grandsons, Louis and Donald
    Baum, of Tonawanda, and two
    nieces, Doris and Alma Bplcer, of
    Mexico. N. Y.
    Mrs. Baum was born in Peterboro,
    Ont., in 1884, the daughter of the
    late Mr. and Mrs. Alphonse Bilow.
    She came to this city with her parents
    when they removed their residence
    here in 1902. Her education
    was secured in local schools. She
    was a devoted member of St. Teresa's
    church and was active in the
    work of Chapter 600, Protected
    Home Circle.
    For several winters Mrs. Baum
    had spent the colder months in
    California endeavoring to build up
    her strength. Her son who lives
    in California is expected to arrive
    here late today by airplane.

    died March 8. 1928, leaving $7,000
    real property. The life use of the
    estate goes to the widow, Anna
    Baum of Niagara Falls. After her
    death it is to be divided among six
    children, Conrad Baum and Frederick
    Baum of Niagara Falls, executors;

    Mr. and Mrs. John Baum ot Elmwood
    avenue two of the oldest residents
    ot Niagara Falls. Ori Sunday,
    June - 16th celeorated their
    wedditig adniversary.
    At the dinner in their honor Mr. and
    Mrs. Baum were attended by five
    sons, Conrad, Fred, Louis and John
    of this city, and Henry, of New York
    city, and one daughter, Mrs. August
    Mosolf of Elmwood avenue. Seven-
    teen grandchildren and two great
    grandchildren were also present.
    Both Mr. and Mrs. Baum are 75
    years of age. They came to this
    country in 1890 from Germany, and
    settled in that part of Niagara Falls
    then known as Clarksville. For 34
    years they have maintained their
    residence at No. 445 Elmwood ave-
    nue. Mr. Baum has been an employe
    of the Niagara Falls Brewing com-
    pany for the past 30 years, where he
    is held in high esteem.
    At the.services In Zion Lutheran
    church Sunday morning Rev, H
    Brezing delivered a laudatory ser
    mon, in which he felicitated and paid
    high tribute to Mr. and Mrs. Baum,
    who have been loyal members of his
    congregation since their residence at
    Niagara Falls.
    Iri honor of the Occasion both the
    Zion Luitheran church and their
    home were aristically decorated with
    palms and cut flowers.
    The couple received many beauti-
    ful and useful gifts from relatives,
    friends and fellow empoyes of Mr.
    Baum.
    During the afternoon and evening
    about 200 of their relatives arid frlends
    from Niagara Falls and Western New
    York called at their home to extend
    congratulations. Among the out of
    town guests were: Mr. Henry Baum
    and sons, Robert and Fred, of New
    York city; Mr; and Mrs Jacob Hiller
    and family of Sherrill, N.Y.,: Mr
    and Mrs White and Mrs. Rleber of
    Buffalo, N. Y.

    Mrs. Wolephede Bilow. ,of 3741
    Grand avenue, one of the oldest
    residents in that section of the city,
    died to Mount St. Mary's hospital
    yesterday afternoon, following an illness
    of four weeks. The funeral will
    beheld from the Bell funeral chapel
    at 8:30 a. in. Saturday, with services
    at St Mary's church at 9 a, in.
    Burial* will be in Riverdale cemetery.
    Bom in Mont Joli, Que., Mrs.
    Bilow had resided to Niagara Falls
    for tiie past 43 years. She was a
    member of the Woodmen Circle and
    of St. Mary's church. Her husband
    was the late Alphonse Joseph Bilow.

    George Burbee, who, at the time of
    his death in 1915, was quartermaster

    sergeant of Company.E. Surviving
    her are two sons. Nelson
    Burbee, of this city, and Joseph
    Bilow, of Rochester; two daughters,

    Que., and Mrs. Louis Baum of this
    city, and two sisters, Mrs. Man,
