    Notes:

Lockport NY Daily Journal - 3/19/1883

The marriage of an aged couple was
    performed Saturday afternoon on Bouck
avenue near Niagara street, Black Rock.
    The participants are U R I A L DRIOGS, a respected
    citizen of Tonawauda, eighty-one
years of age, and Mrs. BEDKLL, mother
    of OSSIAN B E D E L L , superintendent of the
western division of the Erie Canal, who is
seventy-five years old. This is Mr. DRIGGS'
fourth wife, he having been left a widower
    three times.
The bride and groom have known each
other since childhood, but there was no interchange
    of sentiment before their first
marriages, alt hough they were always veryfriendly.
    Mrs. Bedell and Mr. Driggs
were both deprived of their- first spouses
at about the same time, and a short courtship
    followed,but the widow then thought
it best not t o marry s o soon after her husband
    death. The widower wedded again
ami Mrs. Bedell lived on alone until yesterday.
    The groom having again become
a marriageable man, the courtship was
renewed and ripened into marriage. As
one. of his daughters said: 'This is father's
second love but his third marriage.'
