    Robert Aloan. 86. a former
    resident of West
    Leyden, passed away on
    Friday, February 7, 2003,
    at the Loretia Home, Syra-
    cuse, after a long illness.
    He was born in Osceola,
    NY on July 24, 1916, a son
    of Charles Edison and
    Alma Thurston Aloan. He
    graduated from Camden
    High School in 1933 and
    attended Oswego Normal
    School. Bob served in WW
    II in the Rainbow Division
    of the Army earning the
    Bronze Star. On April 3,
    1948 he married Margaret
    Mary Beha of West Ley-
    den. She passed away in
    1989.
    Bob was a resident of
    Solvay for many years and
    retired from Crucible
    Specialty Metals in 1979
    as a machinist. He
    coached the Solvay Tigers
    Baseball team for many
    years and was a member
    of the Geddes Veterans.
    Upon his retirement in
    1979 he moved to West
    Leyden where he served as
    Town of ewis Supervisor
    for four terms. Bob was
    also a member of the
    Boonville Elks Club,
    Boonville American Le-
    gion, and VFW. He had also
    lived at Kortmeiser Village,
    Boonville and Evergreen
    Manor, Jamesville, NY.
    Surviving are his daugh-
    ters, Linda Davis, Columbus,
    Claair Aloan, Syracuse,
    Pamela Fisher, Tully,
    Elaine Scardon, Marcellus,
    Audrey Cole, Amboy,
    Colleen Russell, Syracuse,
    and Lesa Wilbert, West
    Leyden; sons, Charles
    Aloan, West Leyden, and
    Brian Aloan, Atlanta, GA;
    a sstepbrother, Richard
    Aloan, Camden; 18 grand-
    children and seven great-
    grandchildren. He was
    predeceased by a son,
    Robert Wilson Aloan in
    1976 and a sister, Edith
    Burnes in 1990.
    Funeral services were
    held on Monday, February
    10, 2003 at 11 a.m. at the
    Mills Funeral Home, 301
    Post Street, Boonville.
    Calling hours were from 2-
    5 p.m. at the funeral home
    on Sunday. A memorial
    service was held on Thurs-
    day, February 11, 2003 at
    7 p.m. at the ***unreadable***
    Liverpool, NY. A spring In-
    terment will be in St.
    Mary's Cemetery, West
    Leyden, NY
    The family would like to
    thank the West Leyden
    Volunteer Fire Depart-
    ment for everything they
    have done for
    Bob through
    the years.

    WEST LEYDEN -
    Raymond G. Beha. 84. a lifelong
    resident of West Leyden,
    died on Sunday evening Dec.
    11. at Huntington Hospital,
    Huntington. Long Island Mr.
    Beha had been hospitalized
    since Nov. 30. after suffering a
    stroke.
    Born in West Leyden on
    April 27. 1893. he was a son of
    John and Mary Kotary Beha.
    He was graduated from Boon-
    ville High School and the
    Boonville Teachers Training
    Class. Thereafter he taught in
    the area schools. During
    World War I Mr. Beha served
    with the U.S.Army in France.
    After being discharged from
    the Army, he settled on the
    family farm on the Mud Lake
    Road in the Town of Lewis.
    After selling the farm in 1946,
    the Beha Family moved to
    West Leyden. For a time Mr.
    Beha served as a substitute
    mail carrier from the West
    Leyden Post Office. After
    leaving the farm, Mr. Beha,
    was employed at Griffiss Air
    Force Base in Rome. He
    retired a number of years ago.
    Mr. Beha married Clara
    Tine on sept. 20, 1920 in West
    Leyden. She died on Jan. 18,
    1949. He married Margaret
    Entwistle on April 27, 1948 in
    utica. She died on Aug. 9,
    1968. Mr. Beha had spent the
    past few winters with his
    daughter, Miss HelenBeha,
    at Huntington, Long Island,
    and the summers at his home
    in West Leyden. He was a
    member of St. Mary's Church
    the West Leyden Fire Depart-
    ment and the Charles J. Love Post American Legion.
    Besides his daughter,
    Helen, Mr. Beha is survived
    by two other daughters, Mrs.
    Raymond (Katherine) St. John
    Cincinnati, Ohio, Mrs. Robert
    (Margaret Mary) Aloan, Syra-
    cuse; a foster son, Harold
    Kessler, Holland Patent; 18
    grandchildren; 24 great
    grandchildren; two brothers,
    William J. Beha, West
    Leyden, Henry Beha, Colum-
    bus, Ohio, and one sister,
    Mrs. Turance Nabors, Seattle,
    Washington.
    Funeral services will be
    held on Thursday, Dec. 15, at
    9:45 a.m. at the Trainor
    Funeral Home, Boonville, and
    at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's
    Church, West Leyden, where
    Rev. George Roskwitalski
    OFM Conv., pastor of the
    church, will officiate. Inter-
    ment will be made in St.
    Mary's Cemetery. Friends
    may call at the funeral home
    on Wednesday from 2 until 4
    and 7 until 9 p.m. The Rosary
    will be recited on Wednesday
    at 7:30 p.m. The West Leyden
    Firemen will meet at the
    funeral home on Wednesday
    at 8 p.m.

    WEST LEYDEN -- Mrs. Mary
    Kotary Beha, 84, widow of John
    Beha, died May 3, 1954 in sun-
    set Nursing Hospital, Constable-
    ville. She had been in ill health
    for the past year and seriously
    ill for one week.
    She was born near Weat Ley-
    den, March 14, 1870, daughter
    of Joseph and Adeline Seelman
    Kotary. She spent nearly all her
    life at West Leyden and attended
    local schools.. She also attended
    St. Michael's Sisters School at
    Mohawk Hill.
    She was married to John Beha
    on October 1, 1888, at St. Mi-
    chael's Church, Mohawk Hill, by
    the Rev. Joseph Welant. The
    couple purchased the Beha home-
    stead farm near West Leyden
    and lived there until 1920. In
    1923, they purchased their home
    in West Leyden village where
    they had sines lived.
    The couple celebrated their
    50th wedding anniversary on
    October 1, 1938. A High Mass
    was celebrated by the Rev. B. A.
    O'Connell at S t Mary's Church,
    West Leyden. On October 1, 1948,
    the couple celebrated their 60th
    wedding anniversary with an
    open house at their home here.
    Mr. Beha died Feb. 8, 1952
    Mrs. Beha was a communicant
    of St. Mary's Church, West Ley

    den, and a member of its Altar-
    Rosary Society. She was a gold
    star member of West Leyden
    Grange 620. She had held every
    office in th£ grange excepting
    master.
    Surviving are five sons. Ambrose
    L. Beha, Watervule; Henry
    F. Beha, Columbus, Ohio; James
    a. Beha, Mohawk, superintend-
    ent of Frankfort schools; Ray-
    mond G. and William J. Beha
    both of West Leyden; one adopt-
    ed daughter, Mrs. Theresa Na-
    bors, Seattle, Wash.; 19 grand-
    chidren, 35 great-grandchildren;
    one brother, Benjamin Kotary,
    Boonville; several nieces and
    nephews.
    The funeral will be at 9:15
    Thursday from the Trainor Fu-
    neral Home, Boonville, and at
    10 from St. Mary's Church, West
    Leyden, where a requiem high
    Mass will be celebrated by the
    Rev. Aloysius Isele. Burial will
    be in St. Mary's Cemetery, West
    Leyden.

    cently married. They are now keeping
    house about a mile from this village-at
    the Beha residence
