Elizabeth "Betty" Erskine, age 90 of Ransomville, died on Thursday April 23, 2015 in the Odd Fellow & Rebekah Health Facility in Lockport, after a short illness. Betty was born on August 16, 1924 in Hornell, NY, the daughter of the late Lewis and Dorothea (Shadis) LaBarre. She married Leslie A. Erskine on August 19, 1940 and they moved to Ransomville in 1962. Leslie predeceased Betty on May 24, 2007.

Betty was employed as a Library Aide first at the Ransomville Elementary School for a short time and then at Wilson Central Schools. She retired from the school District in 1983 after 13 years of service. She then worked at Beutel's Greenhouse in Newfane until age 84. She was known as "Gramma Betty" to her many friends. She enjoyed bingo and casino gaming, but most of all loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children, Judith (Lloyd) Hamm of Wilson, Carol (Edward) Hastings of Ransomville, David (Janet Clappsattle) Erskine of Wilson, John (Dolores "Dee") Erskine of Anastine, AL, and Sue (David) Kroening of Ransomville; 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother, Robert LaBarre.

Betty donated her remains to the Anatomical Gift Program at the University of Buffalo. Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094.
