John Paul "Jackie" Lauer, Jr., 57, born July 12, 1952, Niagara Falls, New York, passed away November 25, 2009. John and his wife MaryLouise (Whitebread), moved to Las Vegas in 1986. John was a licensed Nevada Realtor, member of and shop steward for Bartenders Local 165 during his 15 years of employment at the Stardust Hotel. One of his proudest achievements was his role in negotiating a severance plan with remuneration and rehire rights for bartenders and culinary employees when the Stardust closed. John's success in a historic, ground breaking, accomplishment was certainly due in part to the mutual respect of his coworkers and management alike. John was an avid reader, well versed in world history and a skilled, lifelong billiards player. He loved to travel and enjoyed fine dining. John loved life and lived it to the fullest. John was preceded in death by his mother, Kathleen (McNamara) Lauer; his father, John Paul Lauer, Sr.; and brother, David Lauer. He is survived by his adored wife of 24 years, MaryLouise; brothers, Martin (Evelyn) Lauer, Timothy Lauer, Kevin (Jacqueline) Lauer; sisters, Colleen (Michael) Barone, Maureen (Michael) Spacone and Marybeth (Peter) Campbell; also survived by his uncles, Raymond (Colleen) Lauer, Michael (Ginny) McNamara and Thomas (Jeannie) McNamara; his mother-in-law, Ann Marie Whitebread; sisters-in-law, Cindy (Michael) Rose, Christine (Michael) Stanish; and several nieces and nephews. MARTHA J. (PUGLISI) MCNAMARA LAUER
COOK, DRUGSTORE CLERK

Martha J. Lauer, 69, a former cook and drugstore clerk, died Saturday (Nov. 20, 1999) in her home after a brief illness.

Born Martha Puglisi in Niagara Falls, she attended local schools.

She worked as a cook at the former Scalzo's Restaurant on Falls Street for many years and later was a clerk at Saraceni's Drug Store.

She enjoyed traveling and Southwestern art.

She was the widow of John S. McNamara and John P. Lauer.

Survivors include her dear friend, Thomas Lawrie; two sons, Steve McNamara of Greeley, Colo., and John McNamara; three daughters, Debi McLaughlin of Denver, Janine Nichele and Margaret Lapp; five stepsons, John of Las Vegas, Marty of West Seneca, Timothy of Lewiston, Kevin of the Town of Niagara and David; three stepdaughters, Colleen Barone of Milwaukee, Maureen Spaccone and Marybeth Campbell; a brother, Anthony Puglisi of Lewiston; three sisters, Grace Nalbone of Seattle, Virginia Rusella of Detroit and Margaret Bellina; 26 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 2486 Grand Ave., after prayers at 8:45 in Spallino-Amigone Funeral Home, 1300 Pine Ave.

Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
