(nee Winkler) Hankinson, age 74, of the City of Tonawanda, Monday June 16, 2014 at Buffalo General Hospital after a brief illness. A lifelong resident of Tonawanda, she was the wife of James A. "Duck" Hankinson, who died in 2001; and was the sister of the late Phyllis (the late Ted) Kumlander. Linda was a 1958 graduate of Tonawanda High School and was employed as a Secretary for the City of Tonawanda School System. She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, where she taught Sunday School for many years. Linda loved to sew and also loved to play the piano. She is survived by four sons, Mark (Jacki), Matt (Debra), Philip (Sarah) and Paul (Colleen) Hankinson, all of the Tonawandas; nine grandchildren Ryan, Casey, Mark, Jr., Pfc. Adam, Samuel, Abigail, Ella, James and Nathan and a great-granddaughter, Hailey. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Thursday from 4-8 PM at John O. Roth Funeral Home, Inc. 25 William St. (between Morgan & Broad Sts.) in Tonawanda, where funeral services will be conducted on Thursday evening at 8:00 PM following the visitation. The Rev. Jeremy Lopez will officiate. A private burial will be in Elmlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation Intl., WNY Chapter, 331 Alberta Dr., Suite 106, Amherst, NY 14226.
