NEWFANE-Duane Bixler, 37,
of Wright's Corners, died today
(May 5. 1958) at Lockport Memorial
Hospital, where he had been
a patient for three weeks. He was
an employe of the Frontier Dolo-
mite concrete Products Corp.,
Town of Lockport, for the last
five years.
Born in the Town of Hartland,
Jan. 27, 1921, Mr. Bixler was a
son of Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Bixler.
He resided in Moravia, N. Y.,
for some time, later moving to Arizona,
returning here five years
ago.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth Ferrington
Bixler, Wright's Corners;
his parents in Moravia; four sisters,
Mrs. Beulah Faatz. Lockport,
Mrs. Thelma Call, McLean,
N. Y.; Mrs. Donna Hleboski, Groton,
and Mrs. Lucille Greenway,
Aurora, N. Y.; and two brothers
C. Wendel Bixler, Groton, and F.
Reed Bixler, Locke, N. Y.
Services will be conducted at the
Corwin Funeral Home at 2 p.m.
Wednesday by the Rev. Lawrence
Kinne of St. Luke's Lutheran
Church. Burial will be in Glenwood
Cemetery.

Funeral services for a former
Newfane resident, Clayton H. Bixler
of Moravia, will be held tomorrow
at 2 p.m. at the Wade
Funeral Home in Moravia. Mr.
Bixler, 67, died Wednesday (June
5. 1963) at Veterans Hospital in
Syracuse, where he was a patient
for three weeks.
Mr. Bixler was born July 18,
1895 in Newfane, the son of George
and Julia Bishop Bixler, and was
wounded In France during World
War I, when he served in the
Army.
Follwoing his msrrlage to the
former Edna Reed of Hartland in
1920, the couple moved to Moravia
and operated a Cayuga County
farm.
Besides his wife, Mr. Bixler Is
survived by four daughters, Mrs.
Harold Faatz of Lockport, Mrs.
George Call of Cortland. Mrs. Addison
Hleboski of Groton, N.Y.,
and Mrs. Harry Polhamus of Aurora;
two sons, Wendell and Reed
Bixler both of Groton; five sisters,
Mrs. Everett Forsyth of
Burt, Mrs. William Ackerman of
Wilson, Mrs. Howard Rush of
Newfane, Mrs. Douglas Roberts
and Mrs. George Howard, both of
Lockport.
Burial will be in Moravia.

Mrs. Edna Bixler Steves. 69,
a native of Hartland and moth-
e r of a Lockport resident, died
Sunday (Jan. 21, 1968) at the
home of a daughter in Groton,
after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Steves was born Feb. 8,
1898, at Hartland, the daughter
of James and Mary Silsby
Reed. She had lived in this
area until her marriage in 1920
to Clayton Bixler. He died in
1963.
Surviving are her husband,
Everett Steves; four daughters,
Mrs. Harold Faatz of Lockport,
Mrs. Robert Chapman of Cortland,
Mrs. Addison Hleboski of
Groton, Mrs. Frank Polhamus
of Aurora; two sons, Wendell
Bixler of Cortland and R e ed
Bixler of Locke; also 32 grandchildren,
11 great - grandchildren
and several nieces a nd
nephews.
Funeral services were held
Wednesday at Moravia. Burial
will be in Sand Hill Cemetery,
Dresserville.

George Bixler, 64 years old of
the Ide road, town of Newfane, arrested
yesterday by Deputy Smith
and Rees on charge of bigamy.
was arraigned this morning before
Acting Police Judge Noonan In
police court at Niagara Falls. A
plea of not guilty was entered
and the case was adjourned until
19 o'clock tomorrow morning;.
The complainant is Mrs. Julia
Bixler of 295 Hawley street, this
city, who claims she is t h e wife of
George Bixler and mother of h i s
seven children. She told Judge
Noonan that while there Is no di-
vorce she has been separated from
her husband about thirteen years.
Recently Mrs. Bixler saw an ac-
count in a newspaper of the mar-
riage of George Bixler and Rose
Mary Carey, the ceremony being
performed on September 3, at Ni-
agara Falls, she claims, and upon
investigation found that the groom
was her husband. she then
swore out the warrant.

NEWFANE, June 12 - Funeral
services for George Bixler. 70. former
resident of the Newfane area who
died Monday in Cleveland, will be
held at 3:30 tomorrow at the heme
of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn H. Corwin,
Main street. Burial will be In Corwin
cemetery. Mr. Bixler had been
ill for several months.
Born In the town of Newfane. the
son of the late Joshua and Alice
Brown Bixler, he had been a farmer
on the Ida road until 16 years ago
when he went to Cleveland. He was
a member of the Newfane Baptist
church.
Survivors include a son Clayton
Bixler, Moravia; five daughters, Mrs.
Everett Forsyth, Burt; Mrs. william
Akerman and Mrs. Beverly Harris,
Newfane; Mrs. George Howard and
Mrs. Douglas Roberts, both of Lock-
port; and one brother, Scott Bixler,
Hess road, town of Newfane.

George married BISHOP, Julia about 1893. Julia was born in Sep 1873 in New York; died on 13 Oct 1934 in Lockport, Niagara County, NY. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Joshua Bixler aged 77 years, a life
long resident of this road passed
away at his home Saturday, September
6th, he leaves besides his wife,
three sons, George and Glenn of Newfane,
and Scott of Hartland. Mr.
Bixler was a veteran of the Civil War,
burial in Wrights Corners cemetery.

Joshua married BROWN, Alice J about 1868. Alice (daughter of Lucretia) was born about 1847 in New York; died on 25 Oct 1933 in Lockport, Niagara County, NY. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Alice J., widow of the late Joshua
Bixler, entered into rest at her home
on the Hess road, Wednesday, October
25, 1938, at the age of 87 years.
She is survived by two sons, George
and Scott Bixler of Newfane, N. Y.,
also eighteen grandchildren and
twenty-four great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held from
her late home Saturday afternoon
at 2 o'clock. Burial Wright's Corners
cemetery.
