    BEDFORD, IN — Raymond Clayton Spear, age 81, of Bedford, IN, passed away on Sunday, December 30, 2012, at 11:05 AM, at IU Health in Bedford. Raymond was born on February 18, 1931 in Corning, NY to Theodore and Lydia (Sparks) Spear. He married Susanne Swick on November 14, 1953 in Niagara Falls, NY, and she survives.

    Raymond was a US Army veteran serving in 1953-1956. He retired from General Motors in 1993; he was in the Personal Department. Raymond was an Eagle Scout and attended Riverside Presbyterian Church in New York and First Presbyterian Church in Bedford.

    Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Susanne Spear of Bedford, IN; children, Barry Spear and wife, Pamela of Sevierville, TN; Brett Spear and his wife, Martha Peterson of Lexington, KY; Betsey Makximenko and husband, Victor of Bedford, IN; seven grandchildren, Andrew Spear, Taryn Spear Claypool, Sara Hackett, Garrett Spear, Tyler Spear, Alex Makximenko and Tessa Makximenko; three great-grandsons, Jackson and Cole Spear, and Samuel Claypool. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Sylvia Statton and one son, Thomas Spear.

    Funeral services were held at 1:00 PM on Friday, January 4, 2013, at Cresthaven Funeral Home. Friends called on Friday from 11:00 AM until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Cresthaven Memory Gardens.

    Dies Here at 88

    Ira W. Swick. 88, one of the city's
    oldest resldents and former city
    milk and food Inspectors, died today
    at his home, 1118 Niagara avenue.
    Funeral services for Mr. Swick
    will be held at the Cornell and Dag-
    gett Funeral home at 2 pm. on Sun
    day.
    Born in Wilson, Mr. Swick came
    to this city 57 years ago. He built
    the family home In Niagara avenue
    when the present area Included in
    the city comprised three villages,
    Suspension Bridge, Clarksvllle and
    Niagara Falls.
    Mr. Swick served as milk inspector
    from 1919 until his retirement
    in 1938. He formerly owned the
    Swick bakery In Suspension Bridge.
    He was a life-long member of the
    First Congregational church.
    Surviving are a son. Harold I.
    Swick, this city; a daughter, Mrs.
    Sybil Swick Simson, Bronxville; a
    sister, Mrs. Eva Brace, Dearborn
    Mich.; six grandchildren and seven
    greatgrandchildren.
    Burlel will be In the North Ridge
    cemetery.

    MRS. SWICK DIES
    Widely Known Woman Pastes at Residence
    Here After Heart Attack
    Mrs. Lulu Cary Swick, wife of Mrs.
    Ira W. Swick, of 1118 Niagara avenue,
    died at the family home yesterday
    afternoon, shortly after she had suffered
    a heart attack. She was 88
    years old.
    Born In Lewiston, Mrs. Swick lived
    In Wilson and Tonawanda before coming
    to Niagara Falls many years ago.
    She was a member of the board of
    deaconesses of the First Congrega-
    tional church and had a wife circle
    of friends, among whom she was held
    In high esteem. Besides her husband,
    she Is survived by a daughter, Mrs.
    Sybil Swick Simons, and a son, Harold
    Swick, and several grandchildren.
    Funeral services will be held at the
    family home at 2 p. m. Saturday.
    Burial will be In North Ridge cemetery.
