    NIAGARA FALLS —
    Helen Z. (Universal) Gorczynski, 93, formerly of Niagara Falls, NY, died on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 in the Health and Rehabilitation Center at Friendship Village in Dayton, OH. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on October 30, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Sophia (Zauczkowski) Universal.
    On September 8, 1945, she married William W. Gorczynski in Our Lady of the Rosary Church where Helen also attended Parochial School and later Gaskill Junior High School. William predeceased her on October 12, 2008. Helen worked at the International Paper Company for eight years and retired in 1984 from Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center where she worked as a Central Service Aid for 20 years. She was a former member of St. John de LaSalle R.C. Church.
    She is survived by her son, William F. (Christine) Gorczynski of Englewood, OH; grandchildren, William J. (Madelynne) Gorczynski of Mason, OH, Mary C. (Michael) Porter of Vandalia, OH; great-grandchildren, Billy, Joshua and Jarrod Gorczynski, Justin, Derek, Morgan, Maryna, Madison and Lilyanne Porter, her great-great-grandson, Arlian Porter; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband; she was predeceased by her brother, Theodore "Ted" Universal.
    Friends may call on Sunday, January 20th from 3-6 PM at ZAJAC FUNERAL HOME, INC., 319-24th St. cor. Welch Ave., Niagara Falls, NY where funeral services will take place on Monday at 10:00 AM with Deacon David Slish officiating. Entombment following in Gate of Heaven Mausoleum Lewiston, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Paul Catholic Church, 1000 West Wenger Rd., Englewood, OH 45322; Friendship Village, 5790 Denlinger Rd,. Dayton, OH 45426; or Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420.

    Mount St. Mary's hospital yesterday
    afternoon, after a week's Illness
    with influenza and pneumonia. Funeral
    services will be held Saturday
    from the home at 9:30 a. m. and
    from Holy Rosary church at 10
    o'clock. Burial will be in the family
    plot in Riverdale cemetery.
    Born in Poland, Mr, Universal
    had lived here 27 years. For the
    last 10 years he had been a fireman's
    helper at the Hooker Electrochemical
    company. Surviving
    him are his. wife, Sophia; two
    children, Teddy and Helen Universal;
    two brothers, Michael Universal,
    this city, and John Universal,
    Buffalo, and two sisters, Mrs.
    Hedwig Dryja, this city, and Joanna
    Branka, of Poland.

    Eighteenth street, died at his home
    late yesterday after an illness of
    three years. He was a native of

    Poland, has resided here 35 years
    and was employed by the R. and H.
    Chemical company and the duPont
    company for 30 years.
    He is survived by his wife, Mrs.
    Anna Zauczkowski; five sons, Andrew,
    Joseph, Walter and Stanley
    Zauczkowski, all of this city, and
    John Zauczkowski, of the U. S.
    Army and five daughters, Mrs. So-
    phie Universal, Mrs. Stella Kasz-
    toyniak, Mrs. Genevieve Watroba,
    Mrs. Helen Stypa and Mrs. Rose
    Lescher, all of this city. He is also
    survived by 18 grandchildren and
    by three sisters in Poland.
    He was a member of St. Ludwig's
    society, No. 347 Z.N.P.
    The funeral will be held from his
    later home at 9:30 a.m., Friday,
    with services at Holy Trinity church
    at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Gate
    of Heaven cemetery.

    87, died late Saturday night
    at the Rest-Well Nursing
    Homo, 8022 Buffalo Ave.,
    where she had been a patient
    since Monday.
    She was born in Poland
    and lived in this city for
    the last 55 years. She lived
    with her daughter, Mrs.
    Helen Stypa, 717 87th St.,
    before she .was admitted to
    the nursing home.
    Mrs. Zauczkowski was a
    member of Holy Trinity
    Church.
    Besides Mrs. Stypa, she
    Is survived by four other
    daughters, Mrs. S t a n l ey
