    John R. Benjamin Jr. 74 of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Friday, January 22, 2016 at home surrounded by his loving family and under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on April 8, 1941 he was the son of the late John R. and Mary (Cushing) Benjamin Sr. John was a Fire Captain for 29 years with the Niagara Falls Fire Department.


    He is survived by his wife, Elaine (Grabowski) Benjamin Jr.; daughters, Kelly (fiancé James Perri) Volpe and Tamara (Nick) Curtis; sons, Jeff (Jennifer) and Mike (Cindy) Benjamin and Tim (Dianna) Burbee; five grandchildren and brother, Dan (Roberta) Benjamin.


    There is NO PRIOR visitation. Funeral Services and Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements entrusted to ZAJAC FUNERAL HOME INC.

    A lovely summer wedding was solemnized
    Saturday, June 13, when the
    Rev,. Charles R.. Osborn, of the Baptist
    church, united to marriage Miss
    Evelyn Oushlng, daughter of Mr. and
    Mrs. R. Cushing, of 419 Third street,
    to John R. Benjamin, son of Mr. and
    Mre. D. E. Benjamin, of 2420 Pierce
    avenue.
    The bride was charming In a gown
    of shell pink silk net over taffeta,
    made on princess lines, with a matching
    net halo hat trimmed to blue.
    She wore a shoulder corsage of pink
    roses, sweet peas and lllies-of-the-valley.
    The maid of honor and only attendant.
    Miss Mary Benjamin, sister of the
    groom, wore a peach net redlngote
    over satin with a coronet of wood
    fiber roses In her hair. The groom
    was attended by Edward M. Cushing,
    brother of the bride.
    The bride's mother was gowned to
    black embroidered net with white accessories
    and wore a shoulder corsage
    of Talisman roses and sweet peas.
    The mother of the groom wore a
    French blue triple sheer crepe with
    white accessories. Her corsage was
    of roses and sweet peas.
    Following the ceremony a reception
    was held at the home of the bride, at
    which a delicious luncheon was served
    to 35 guests. The bride's table was
    centered with a three-tier wedding
    cake, flanked by tall pink tapers.
    Mr. and Mrs. John Benjamin left

    for a wedding trip through the New
    England states, visiting Boston, Mass.,
    and Portland, Maine. Mrs. Benjamin
    traveled in a banker's grey tailored
    suit, with which she wore white accessories.
    Out-of-town guests attending the
    wedding were David Mulrhead and
    Mrs. T. D. Mulrhead, of Andenrled,
    Pa.; Mrs. WUllam Jackson, of Windsor,
    Ont.
    Pre-nuptlal affairs given for the
    bride were a shower given by her
    Sunday school class of the Baptist
    church, at which she was presented
    with a beautiful floor lamp; a variety
    shower by Mrs. W. E. Messer; a kitchen
    shower by Bertha Abbott and a
    variety shower by Mary Benjamin.

    Daniel E. 'Benjamin. 64. a resi-
    dent of this city for 40 years be-
    fore he moved to Buffalo a year
    ago, died Monday (Jan. 16. 1957)
    in Buffalo General Hospital after
    a short illness.
    Mr. Benjamin was an engineer
    for the New York Central Railroad.
    He was born in Audenreid.
    Pa. He resided at 2420 Pierce
    Ave. for 36 years before he moved
    to Buffalo, where he resided at 45
    Bennett Village Terrace.
    He was a member of Niagara
    River Lodge No. 785, F&AM, the
    Shriners and the Brotherhood of
    Locomotive Engineers. He was a
    member of the First Christian
    Science Church of Buffalo.
    Surviving are his wife. Lillian
    V. Benjamin; two sons. Thomas L.
    and John R. Benjamin; two daughters,
    Mrs. Perry (Mary) Mann and
    Mrs. Anthony (Betty) Bisulca, all
    of this city; a brother, Howard E.
    Benjamin, this city; three sisters,
    Mrs. Harold Saunders, Rochester,
    Mrs. John Ullrich, Elizabeth, Pa.,
    and Mrs. Robert Edwards, Pittsburgh,
    Pa.; and 11 grandchildren.
    Funeral services were being
    arranged at presstime.

    Daniel married Anna about 1913. Anna was born about 1892 in PA; died on 21 Mar 1939 in Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
