    News has been received here on the
    death of Norman C. Bremer, age 90, of
    Ithaca, who died in Lakeside Nursing
    Home there, April 7. 1988.
    A native of Brocton, Mr. Bremer
    spent his school years in Dunkirk,
    moving to Ithaca as a member of Ted
    Weem's band.
    He was chief engineer at Morse
    Chain Co. for 30 years and director of
    Research and Development at the time
    of his retirement in 1962. He was the
    designer of the Hi-Vo chain drive now
    used around the world on front-wheel
    automotive drives. Over the course of
    his life, he was granted 23 U.S.
    patents.
    Mr. Bremer is survived by two
    daughters, Arden M. and Beverly A.
    Bremer, both of Ithaca; a brother
    Lloyd W. of Upper Nyack; three
    grandchildren; a niece, Wendy Ciliberti
    of Amherst; and a nephew, Craig
    Fattey of Hamburg. He was predeceased
    by his wife, Mae Bremer, who
    died in 1978; and a brother, Howard F.
    (Helene) of Hamburg.
    Mr. Bremer was a frequent visitor to
    Hamburg and had relatives and many
    friends here.
    Memorials may be made to the Norman
    C. Bremer Prize in Physics and
    Chemistry, a fund that will be
    established at Ithaca High School for
    students excelling in physics and
    chemistry. Donations should be sent
    to the Norman C. Bremer Memorial
    Fund, 414 West Seneca St., Ithaca,
    N.Y., 14850, in care of A. Bremer

    Mrs. Caroline P. Bremer, wife
    of William J. Bremer died
    Wednesday afternoon, March, 20
    in Ossening after a long illness.
    A native of Buffalo, she was
    82 years old and had spent
    most iof her life in Dunkirk and
    lived in Sheridan. For the past
    four years she had resided with
    her :son in Ossening.
    Mrs. Bremer was a member of
    Grace Lutheran Church of Dunkirk
    and True Union Rebekah
    lodge in Sheridan.
    Besides her husband, she is
    survived by three sons, Howard
    F. Bremer, of Ossining, Norman
    C. Bremer of Ithaca and Lloyd
    W. Bremer of Nyack; a sister,
    Mrs. T. Graiban of Niagara
    Falls: three grandchildren and
    several nieces and nephews
