Paul Benton of North Tonawanda, age 83, passed away March 11, 2014, at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport. Mr. Benton was born August 20, 1930 in Walton, NY, son of the late Hugh and Mary Benton. Mr. Benton graduated from Lockport High School and attended Houghton College, University of Buffalo and Erie Community College. Mr. Benton worked for the Wurlitzer Company and for Columbus McKinnon where he retired from in 1991 as a design engineer. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge. Mr. Benton was a member of Payne Ave. Christian Church where he served as a Deacon, an Elder and a Board Member. His interests included boating. He was a member and past commander of Swiftwater Power Squadron, former member of LaSalle Yacht Club, Buffalo Launch Club and Miata Car Club. Mr. Benton was also a member of Master Builder Masonic Lodge #911 and Elks Lodge #820. Mr. Benton is survived by his wife of 59 years, Leah Ruth (nee Schultz) Benton of North Tonawanda; father of Ross E. (Susan) Benton of North Tonawanda and Ruth E. (William) Benton-Misko of Wheatfield; grandfather of Rebecca M. Benton, Paul S. Benton, Sarah A. (Scott) Welker and Rachel M. Misko; great-grandfather of Mason Lewis; brother of Benson A. (Florence) Benton, Sarah Benton (Roger) Fricke, John T. (June) Benton and the late Robert and late William Benton; also survived by nieces and nephews. Friends may call Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at the WATTENGEL Funeral Home (NEW LOCATION), 533 Meadow Dr., N. Tonawanda, where funeral services and military honors will be held Saturday at 10:00 AM.     banked the altar of North Tonawanda Church of Christ
    for the wedding of Miss Laeh Ruth Schultz and R. Paul
    Benton June 29 on the 28th wedding anniversary of the
    bride's parents.
    The Rev. John Douglas officiat-
    ed at the double ring, candlelight
    service. He was assisted by the
    Rev. Benson Benton, brother of the
    bridegroom.
    Miss Schultz is the daughter of
    Mr. and Mrs. Irving M. Schultz,
    1426 Ruie Rd. The bridegroom is
    the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh M.
    Benton, Barker, N.Y. Harold
    Domres was organist. He accomm-
    panied Mrs. George Sanville of
    Brandywine, Pa., sister of the
    bridegroom, who was soloist.
    Given in marriage by her father,
    the bride was gowned in a floor-
    length dress of nylon tulle and lace
    with a lace apron overskirt. The
    tight-fitting, long-sleeved bod-
    ice featured a scoop neckkline edged
    with scalloped lace. A Juliet cap of
    shirred tulle and lace outlined in
    seed pearls held her fingertip veil
    of illusion. She carried a cascade
    bouquet of lilies of the valey and
    stephanotis accented with ivy
    leaves.
    Mrs. Rudolf J. Mongeon, ma-
    tron of honor, and Miss Florence
    Taylor of Lockport, bridesmaid,
    wore floor-length gowns of blue
    crystalette with fitted bodice and
    bateau neckline. Their headpieces
    were circlets of blue braided horse-
    hair with clusters of seed pearls.
    They carried cascade bouquets of
    lilies of the valley, sparton roses
    and ivy.
    Roxanne Benton, niece of the
    bridegroom, was similarly dressed
    and carried a backet of lilies of
    the valley and sparton roses.
    John Benton was best man with
    William Benton and Donald Schultz
    serving as ushers. Mark Schultz,
    nephew of the bride, was the ring
    bearer.
    For her daughter's wedding Mrs.
    Schultz selected an aqua and white
    print dress with an aqua redin-
    gote. Mrs. Benton chose a gray
    and rose sheer print. Both cos-
    tumes featured white accessories
    and corsages of white carnations
    and sparton roses.
    Mrs. Charles Wythe, grandmoth-
    er of the bride, was dressed in
    navy blue with white accessories.
    She was presented with a corsage
    of pink variegated carnations.
    A reception in the church base-
    ment immediately followed the
    ceremony with the Christian Wom-
    en's Fellowship serving a buffet
    luncheon for 200 guests.
    Mr. and Mrs. Benton now are at
    home in 218 South St., Lockport
    after a wedding trip to Washing-
    ton, D.C., and Philadelphia, Pa.
    Entertaining with pre-nuptial
    parties for the bride were the Mes-
    dames Robert Benton, Herbert
    Warblow, Frazer Eggert, Donald
    Schultz, Rudolph Mongeon and
    Miss Florence Taylor.

    Benton, 8682 High St., Barker,
    on the occasion of the
    couple's 50th wedding anniversary.
    Friends are invited

    It was a simple but impressive
    ceremony which
    united in marriage Miss
    Mary E. Paul of Berry
    Brook, N.Y. and Hugh Benton.
    The ceremony was held
    at the home of the bride's
    sister.. Mrs. George Emory
    in Evansville, Wis. The bride
    and bridegroom had met at
    the Evansville Seminary
    which they both attended.
    The late Rev. C. A. Stoll officiated.
    Mrs. Emory, who now
    lives in Binghamton, N. Y.,
    is present to in Barker to
    attend the celebration.
    The couple have five living
    children. They are Robert
    Benton of Barker, an engineer
    with the Harrison Radiator
    Division of General
    Motors Corp. at Lockport;
    the Rev. Benson Benton,
    pastor of the Sanborn Methodist
    Church; Miss Sally
    Benton who teaches science
    in Philadelphia, Pa.; Paul
    Benton of North Tonawanda,
    Sylvania Corp. draftsman;
    and John Benton of Lockport,
    with IBM in Buffalo.
    Another son. William, was
    the victim of an automobile
    accident four years ago.
    They also have 14 grandchildren.
    Mrs. Benton will greet her
    guests in an orchid print
    nylon Jersey dress complemented
    with phalaenopsis
    orchids.

    Irving Schultz - Irving M. Schultz, 60. of 1264 Ruie Road, died this Sunday (Feb. 23, 1964) in Millard Fillmore Hospital, Buffalo, after an illness of one week. He was a life long resident of this city and was employed as a designer at the Harrison Radiator Corp. Division, General Motors, Lockport, for 34 years. He was a member of the Payne Avenue Christian Church and a member of the Buffalo and Tonawanda Board of Realtors. Surviving are his wife, Ruth Wythe Schultz; a daughter, Mrs. Paul Benton; a son, Donald I. Schultz and six grandchildren, all of this city. The family will be present from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Wattengel Funeral Home where services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Thursday by Rev. Noel Blankenship. Burial will be in Friedens Cemetery.

    Charles E. Wythe, 84, of 28
    Scott St., Tonawanda, died yes-
    terday in Meyer Memorial Hos-
    pital, Buffalo, after a brief ill-
    ness.
    A native of Tonawanda, he
    founded Charles E. Wythe an d
    Sons, tire and battery service, 77
    Young St., in 1921. He retired
    seven years ago.
    He is survived by his wife,
    Anna R. McDougall Wythe;
    three daughters; 15 grandchil-
    dren and seven great-grandchil-
    dren.
    Hamp Funeral Home, Tona-
    wanda, is in charge of arrange-
    ments. Funeral services will be
    conducted Thursday.

    Born in Chicago, Ill., Mrs.
    Wythe had resided in Tona-
    wanda for the past 80 years and
    was a member of Salem United
    Church of Christ and the Wom-
    ens' Guild of the church. Her
    husband, Charles E. Wythe,
    died in March, 1964.
    Surviving are three daugh-
    ters, Mrs. Ruth Schultz, Mrs.
    Herbert Warblow and Mrs.
    Frazer Eggert, and three sons,
    Charles W., Kenneth L. and
    William J. Wythe, all of the
    Tonawandas; 18 grandchildren
    and 13 great-grandchildren.
    The family will be present
    from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at
    Hamp Funeral Home Inc.,
    Adam and Seymour Streets,
    Tonawanda, where services
    will be conducted at 2:30 p.m.

    A quiet.autumn Sunday was enlivened yesterday for
    Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Wythe, 28 Scott St., when their
    sons and daughters and members of their families trooped
    into their home late in t h e day bearing with them the wherewith-
    all for a surprise 50th wedding anniversary supper
    party.
    Mr. and Mrs. Wythe were mar-

    ried 50 years ago today in the liv-
    ing room of the home in w h i c h
    they are now living, the old Wythe
    homestead.
    Gift flowers, one bouquet
    their grandchildren, quickly trans-
    formed the living room into a flor-
    al setting for the gay occasion. The
    buffet table, adorned with flowers,
    was centered with a decorated an-
    niversary cake baked by Mrs. Her-
    bert Warblow, one of the couple-s
    daughters, Approximately 40 mem-
    bers of the family were guests.
    They presented Mr. and Mrs.
    Wythe with an anniversary purse.
    Mr. Wythe, a native of Tona-
    wanda, was born in Young St., 75
    years ago. His wife, the former
    Anna McDougall, 70, was born in
    Chicago. The late Rev. Horning,
    pastor of Salem Evangelical and
    Reformed Church, officiated at
    their wedding.
    Mr. Wythe, propeietor of a serv-
    ice station for 38 years, is asso-
    ciated in busines with his three
    sons in Young and Delaware Sts.
    Both he and Mrs. wythe enjoy ex-
    ceptionally good health and live an
    active and busy life.
    They are the parents of six chil-
    dren: Charles, Kenneth and Wil-
    liam; Mrs. Irving Schultz (Ruth),
    Mrs. Warblow (Onolee) and Mrs.
    Frazer Eggert (Ellen). They have
    14 children and two great-grand-
    children.
