BENZINO - Walter G.
Passed away peacefully at age 80 in Dublin, Ohio on Wednesday October 26, 2022. He leaves behind a daughter, Lori (Craig) Ryan and two granddaughters, Natalie and Chloe Ryan. He is the son of the late George and Dorothy Benzino. Walter was born in Tonawanda and a longtime resident of North Tonawanda. He was a 1961 graduate of North Tonawanda High School and after high school proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He retired from Delphi Thermal Systems in Lockport where he worked as a welder for close to 30 years. He had been an active member of the Ken-Ton Masonic Lodge, Buffalo Scottish Rite Consistory and Ismailia Temple. He enjoyed deer hunting in his younger days and participated in trap shooting leagues for many years at the Tonawanda’s Sportsman’s Club. He loved attending church and was a lifetime member of First Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder, usher and went to adult Sunday school. His hobbies included bicycling, playing golf, attending Buffalo Bandit games, listening to music and ballroom dancing. The family would like to especially thank Sunrise of Dublin for their exceptional care for Walter over the last 6 years and Capital City Hospice for the care and support during his final days. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 from 2 - 6 PM at JOHN O. ROTH FUNERAL HOME, INC., 25 William St. (between Morgan and Broad Sts) in Tonawanda, where a Funeral Service will be conducted on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at 10 AM. Everyone is welcome to attend. Burial will follow in Elmlawn Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Walter’s name. George F. Benzino, fifty years old.
died suddenly at his home, 301 Broad
street, early this morning. Stricken
with heart failure at 11 o'clock last
night, he died at 2 o'clock.
While on a fishing trip to Port Mait
land, Ont., last week symptoms of
heart disease developed and he was
forced to seek medical attention sev
eral times before arriving home. Ben-
zino's condition was not consider-
ed serious, however, until a short time
before his death.
Benzino was born in Buffalo. He
came to the Tonawandas to reside
nineteen years ago. During, his resi-
dence here, he was engaged most of
the time in the produce and grocery;
business. He had conducted stores in
various parts of the Tonawandas, his
last location being at 18 Young street.
He was a member of Tonawandas
Aerie, F.O.E.; Swift Water Tribe,
Redman; Gratwick Tent, K.O.T.M.,
and the Eldredge Bicycle Club.
Surviving are a wife, two sons,
Frank W. and George J. Benzino; two
daughters, Mrs. Franklin Diedrich and
Miss Melva C. Benzino; a mother, Mrs.
A. L. Frost of Erie, Pa., a brother,
Charles Benzino of North Tonawanda,
and two sisters, Mrs. Hattie B. Mills,
of Boston, Mass., and Mrs. John Hana-
van of Buffalo.
The funeral will be held Tuesday
afternoon.

TONAWANDA -Mrs. R o se
Benzino, 78, of 301 Broad St.,
died Sunday (Nov. 24, 1957) at
DeGraff Hospital after a lengthly
illness.
A lifelong resident of this city,
she formerly operated a fruit and
vegetable store in Young .St. for
many years. She retired 25 years
ago. Her husband, the late George
Benzino died in May of 1922.
She was a member of Salem
United Church of Christ and the
Home Department of the church.
She is survived by two daughters,
Mrs. Franklin Deid.rich and Mrs.
Samuel Aganski; two sons, Frank
and George Benzino, 10 grandchildren
and 11 great grandchildren;
a sister Mrs. Ida Reist; and
two brothers, Joseph Kohler, all
of this city; and Edward Kohler,
Buffalo.
The Rev. Walter F. Hedzel will
conduct the funeral service
10:30 a.m. Wednesday in -
Hamp Funeral Home. Burial in
Elmlawn Cemetery.
