    A very pretty wedding was solemnized
    at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
    George Olmstead in Chittenango Wednesday
    evening, November 8, 1916, at
    8 o'clock, . when their daughter,
    Blanche Ethel, and Mr. Robert W.
    Bender were united in marriage.
    The ceremony was performed by
    Rev. L. H. Pearce and the ring service
    was used. While the ceremony was
    being performed "Oh Promise Me" was
    sang by Miss Fannie Walrath.
    The bride's gown was of white
    China silk with pearl trimmings. She
    fore a wreath of orange blossoms and
    pearls in her hair.
    The bride and bridegroom were attended
    by Miss Anna Bender and Mr.
    Morton Bender, brother and sister of
    the bridegroom, and Mr. and Mrs.
    Dwight L. Kinney, she being sister of
    the bride.
    Miss Ethel Thayer, a niece of the
    bride, was ring bearer, carrying the
    ring on a white satin pillow. Miss
    Amy Corp of Chittenango played the
    wedding march.
    The house was decorated with cedar
    and white garlands, dark green and
    white being the colors. An arch was
    built of cedar and a white wedding
    bell hung in the center.
    Following the ceremony a reception
    was held and Mr. and Mrs. Bender
    then left amid the best wishes of their
    friends for the East, where they will
    visit friends and relatives in Gloversville.
    Mountain Lake. Northville and
    Wadsworth's camp, in the Adirondack
    Mountains.

    CHITTENANGO-In ill health
    several months. Wilson J. Bender,
    one of Madison County's
    older residents, died Friday
    morning at the home of a
    daughter. Mrs. Elton Niles, of
    this village. *
    Mr. Bender, who would have
    been 81 years old on June 11th,
    was born in the town of Manlius.
    but spent most of his life
    in the Chittenango area. He
    was a farmer many years, retiring
    a year ago.
    . Surviving are two daughters.
    Mrs. Eva M. Eaton of Liverpool
    and Mrs. Niles of this village:
    two sons. Robert W. of Chittenango
    and Morton Bender of
    Jamesville; two brothers. Willard
    of Chittenango and Edward
    Bender of Myeenae; 13
    grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren.
    Rev. J. M. VanTilburg of the
    Jamesville Presbyterian Church
    officiated at the funeral which
    was held Sunday afternoon at
    2:30 o'clock. Burial was in Oakwood
    Cemetery, this village.

    Clara Rowe Bender died at the
    Crouse-Irving hospital in Syracuse
    Wednesday afternoon following an
    emergency operation. The funeral
    will be Saturday afternoon from
    the home of Elton Niles at Chitte-
    nango Station. Rev. F. E. Piper
    will officiate and burial will be in
    Oakwood.
    Mrs. Bender was the daughter of

    John and Eva Rowe and was born
    at Fayetteville June 29, 1862. On
    September 29, 1882, she married
    Wilson J. Bender and they have
    made their home in this locality
    most of the time since. She is survived
    by her husband; also by two
    daughters, Mrs. Eva Eaton of Liverpool,
    and Mrs. Elton Niles of
    Chittenango Station; by three sons,
    Robert Bender of Cazenovia, Morton
    Bender of Minoa and Everett
    Bender of this village. There are
    thirteen grandchildren and six
    great grandchildren. Mrs. Bender
    attended the Presbyterian Church
    here and was a woman who devoted
    her life to her family. She was
    held in high esteem by them and
    by a wide circle of friends to whom
    announcement of her death brings
    lasting regret.
