    Cheryl T. Shaw of Burt, NY wife of Robert G. Shaw entered into rest on Tuesday July 24, 2018 in Buffalo, NY. She was born in Newfane, NY on July 16, 1962, the daughter of the late Gary and Sallie Shimshack Thompson. Cheryl graduated from Wilson High School and went on to earn her Masters Degree of Science in Education from Buffalo State College. She was a kindergarten teacher for 34 years at Wilson Central School. Cheryl was a member of St. Brendan on the Lake R.C. Church, Olcott Yacht Club, NYSUT and was on the Advisory board of Ontario Shores Federal Credit Union. Mother of Meghan Ann Shaw, Bridget Kelly Shaw, Shannon Marie Shaw and Kathleen "Katie" Erin Shaw. Sister of Douglas (Rebecca) Thompson, James (Dana) Thompson, Thomas (Linda) Thompson and Margaret Thompson. Also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Family and friends may call at the RUTLAND-CORWIN FUNERAL HOME, INC. 2670  Main St. Newfane, NY on THURSDAY 2-4 and 7-9pm and FRIDAY 2-4 and 7-9PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Brendan on the Lake R.C. Church (St. Charles, Olcott site) on SATURDAY at 11AM. Burial will be in Hartland Central Cemetery.     NEWFANE — Sallie A. Thompson, of Wilson, NY, wife of the late Gary E. Thompson, entered into rest Saturday, March 16, 2013 in Eastern Niagara Hospital, Newfane. She was born in Lockport, NY, January 19, 1938, the daughter of the late Albert and Sarah Mullaney Shimshack. Her husband, Gary E. Thompson, died November 30, 2000.

    Sallie was a graduate of St. Joseph's Academy in Lockport, NY. She received her Bachelor of Science from Buffalo State Teachers College, class of 1959. Sallie was a Kindergarten teacher for 25 years in Newfane Central School and retired in 1997. She moved to Wilson 53 years ago, coming from Lockport.

    Member of St. Brendan on the Lake R.C. Church. Sallie was a past member of the Barton Group Inter-Community Memorial Hospital Ladies Auxiliary for many years. Past member of the Board of Directors for Eastern Niagara Hospital; also was a member of NYS Retired Teachers Association, Gnostic Guild Literacy Group, Olcott Yacht Club and cherished playing Bridge with her friends.

    Mother of Douglas (Rebecca) Thompson of Wilson, Cheryl (Robert) Shaw of Burt, James (Dana) Thompson of Lockport, Thomas (Linda) Thompson, Sr. of Wilson, and Margaret Thompson of Wilson. Grandmother of Meghan, Bridget, Shannon and Katie Shaw, Nicole, Sarah, Kaitlyn, Thomas Jr. and Michael Thompson. Step-grandmother of Scott (Tammy) Jeffery and Christie (David) Mielke. Sister of Mary (Peter) Muller of Dundee, NY, Jean (Anthony) McKenna of Olcott, and the late John Shimshack. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

    Friends may call at the RUTLAND-CORWIN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2670 Main St., Newfane, NY, TUESDAY 2-4 & 7-9 PM, WEDNESDAY 2-4 & 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated THURSDAY at 11:00 AM in St. Brendan on the Lake R.C. Church, Ewings Road, Newfane, NY. Burial will be in Hartland Central Cemetery. Memorials to Eastern Niagara Hospital (Gary E. Thompson Memorial Fund), 2600 William St., Newfane, NY 14108, would be appreciated by the family.

    Old Hornet Sting Fatal to Lockport Resident at 67
    LOCKPORT. May 1 - An infection resulting from a hornet sting suffered two years ago resulted in the death of Ferdinand Schimschack, 67, of 3 McCue avenue, today at Lockport City hospital. Mr. Schimschack's son, Albert P. Schimschack, 83 Beverly avenue, said his father was stung on the left ankle by a hornet. He spent several weeks in the hospital at the time but the infection was never fully cleared up and he had been in the hospital several times since. A native of Germany, Mr. Schimschack came to this country when he was one year old with-his parents, Mr. and Mrs. August Schimschack. who settled in Bergholtz. Fifty years ago he came to this city where he was employed for 28 years by the Richmond Manufacturing company and later for 17 years on the barge canal. Surviving are his wife, Margaret Schimschack; his son and three brothers, Herman and William, of Bergholtz, and Fred, of St. Johnsburg. The funeral will be held Thursday at 8:30 a. m. at the home of the son and at 9 o'clock at St. John's church. Interment will be in St. Patrick's cemetery.
