    Fred J. Berg, a well known
    resident of Tonawanda, died this
    morning at the home of his son,
    Charles, 63 Morgan street. Born
    in Tonawanda 83 years ago, Mr.
    Berg had resided here all his life.
    He was one of the organizers of
    the Bliss Hose company, one of
    the first fire fighting organizations
    in the Tonawandas.
    A Democratic leader, he served
    as alderman from the Second
    Ward during the regime of the
    late Mayor William C. Hubman.
    Mr. Berg was a member of the
    St. Francis church, the Holy
    Name society and Lumber City
    Tent, No. 93, K.O.T.M.
    Mr. and Mrs. Berg celebrated
    their 60th wedding anniversary
    last August.
    Surviving are his wife, Mary,
    nee Holler; three sons, Charles and
    Louis Berg of Tonawanda ami Eugene
    of North Tonawanda-; a
    daughter, Mrs. Arthur Hey; nine
    grandchildren and three great
    grandchildren.
    Funeral services will be held
    Wednesday morning at 3:30
    o'clock from the Hamp Funeral
    Home 37 Adam street, and at 9
    o'clock from the St. Francis
    church. Msgr. John A. Weismantel
    will officiate. Burial will be
    in Mt. Olivet.

    Mrs. Mary M. Berg, nee Holler,
    81, died this morning at the home
    of her daughter, Mrs. Arthur Hey,
    53 East Felton street. A lifelong
    resident of the Tonawandas, she
    was a member of the St. Francis
    church, the altar society and the
    Rosary society of the church, the

    Catholic Daughters and the Women's
    Benefit association. Surviving
    are a daughter, Mrs. Hey; three
    sons, Charles and Louis of Tonawanda
    and Eugene of North Tonawanda;
    nine grandchildren, four
    great grandchildren and a sister,
    Mrs. Josephine Schwartz of Tonawanda.
    Rites will be held Saturday
    morning at 8:30 o'clock from
    the Hamp Funeral Home, 37 Adam
    street, and at 9 o'clock from the
    St. Francis church. The Rt. Rev.
    Msgr. John A. Weismantel will
    officiate. Burial will be in Mt.
    Olivet.
