    NIAGARA FALLS -
    Robert Berger, 84, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed from this life on June 11, 2014. Born on July 28, 1929 in West Seneca, NY, he was the son of the late Fredrick and Mabel (Mohr) Berger.
    Mr. Berger attended local schools and resided in Laguna Hills, CA for the past eight years. On April 12, 1957, he married the former Marilyn Dunton. She predeceased him on August 19, 1996. Robert proudly served in the United States Army, from February 12, 1951, until his honorable discharge on February 22, 1953. He was employed by Great Lakes Carbon and Occidental Chemical Corporation, until he retired in 1991. Mr. Berger was an avid New York Yankees fan and loved country music, traveling and old cars.
    Mr. Berger is survived by two daughters, Robbi (late Steve) Scalzo and Kim (Dane) Andersen; and was predeceased by one son, James Berger. Robert is also survived by three grandchildren, Ashley Berger and Noah and Shane Andersen; two great-grandchildren, Aihana and Dean Raymond; siblings, Mickey (Roger) Benthin and Fredrick (Nora) Berger; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, wife and son, Robert was predeceased by siblings, Eleanor (late Hank) Piper, Mildred (late Bill) Sherwood, Norman Berger, Ed (late Gail) Berger and Richard (Pat) Berger.
    There will be no prior visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Friday, July 18th at 1:00 PM which will be celebrated in the Chapel of OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (716-297-9007), with Rev. Kim Smith officiating. A private inurnment will be held in Acacia Park Cemetery in North Tonawanda, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312 or to the American Lung Association of the Northeast 460 Totten Pond Road, Suite 400, Waltham, MA 02451.
