    Gordon W. Fritz "Gordie," age 85, passed peacefully January 8, 2015 at High Pointe Nursing Facility after a long illness. Gordon was born on April 1, 1929 to the late Walter and Leona (nee Broecker) Fritz and was an Anny veteran of the Korean War. A life-long resident of Martinsville, North Tonawanda, he was employed at Shawnee Meat Market for over 40 years and then part-time at Federal Markets. Gordon was a very active former member of the North Tonawanda Planning Board, and attended numerous planning and school board meetings. He was also a member of the Western New York Woodturners. Gordon took great pride in his home that he built and lived in for almost 60 years; he enjoyed working on cars, making beautiful items from wood, cooking and listening to music.

    Beloved husband to Betty and the late Mary Claire; dear father of Daniel (Heidi), Peter (Theresa), Donna (Leo) Nalbach, Michael (Ellen) and William (Leigh); dear grandfather of Diana, Robert, Kaitlyn, Melanie, Jonathan, Monica, Nicole, Claire, David, Joshua and Caleb; great-grandfather of Scarlet; step-father of Eric Kruss; brother of the late Betty Wurl, brother-in-law of Frederick "Fritz" Wurl.

    The family will be present on Sunday from 2- 4 and 7-9pm at the Fretthold Funeral Home, 1241 Oliver Street at Ward Rd. in North Tonawanda. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10:30 A.M. from Paul's Lutheran Church, 453 Old Falls Boulevard, North Tonawanda. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St Paul's Lutheran Church.     TONAWANDA - Walter H. Fritz, 76, of 1801 Elwood Ave., died unexpectedly Thursday (June 24, 1971) at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Buffalo. He was a life-long resident of this city and a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Mr. Fritz, a World War I Army veteran, was a member of Stephen Sikora Post 1522 American Legion, the Rescue Fire Company, the Firemen's Benevolent Association and the New York State Retirement Association. He is survived by his widow, the former Leona Broecker; a daughter, Mrs. Frederick Wurl of Niagara Falls; a son, Gordon Fritz of this city; five sisters, Mrs Albert Strassburg, Mrs Charles Kaminski, Mrs. John Zastrow, Mrs. Henry Ellman and Mrs. Joseph Gorman; four brothers, Alfred, Carl, Arthur and Glenn Fritz, all of this city, eight grandchildren and 2 great
    grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Monday at the Wattengel Funeral Home with the Rev Enno A. Schmoock officiating. Burial will be at White Chapel Memorial park. Friends may call from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm at the funeral home.

    A pretty wedding was solemnised
    at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Herman
    Broecker in Monroe street at 5 o'clock
    Saturday afternoon, when their
    daughter, Miss Leona Broecker, became
    the hride of Mr. Walter Fritz.
    Rev. Paul Fretthold of St. Mark's
    Lutheran church officiated. The
    bride wore a white georgette gown
    and a veil caught with orange blos-
    soms and carried a bridal bouquet of
    roses. She was attended by Miss Elanor
    Broecker as bridesmaid, who
    wore a light green organdie gown
    and carried a bouquet of sweet peas.
    Mr. Norman Fritz, brother of the
    groom acted as best man. After the
    ceremony a wedding dinner was
    served. The tables wore decorated
    in pink and white cut flowers. Cov
    ers were laid for seventy guests.

    NORTH TONAWANDA, Sept.
    20—Two brothers, pioneer residents
    of the Martinsville area, died
    within 12 hours of each other after
    long illnesses.
    Louis H. Fritz, 84, of Shawnee
    Rd., Town of Wheatfield, a retired
    farmer, died Saturday afternoon
    in his home. He was a member
    of St. John's Lutheran Church,
    Rescue Hose Co., and the Firemen's
    Benevolent Assn.
    He is survived by his wife
    Eleanor Fritz; seven daughters,
    Mrs. Henry Berndt; Mrs. Geahart
    Ooerss, Mrs. Henry Laucheur,
    Mrs, Albert Prill, Mrs. Clarence
    Miller, Miss Eleanor Fritz and
    Miss Vera Fritz; four sons, Alvin

    Funeral services will be held at
    2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the residence.

    Julius C Fritz, 98, of 5230 Old
    Falls Blvd. died yesterday morning
    in the Hilltop Nursing Home in
    Gasport. He was employed by the
    Wurlitzer Manufacturing Co. for
    many years, retiring 26 yean ago.
    He was a member of St Paul's
    Lutheran Church, a charter member
    and the oldest member of
    Rescue Hose Co. and a member
    of the Firemenns Benevolent Assn.
    His wife, the late Ida Sydow,
    died in 1952. He is survived by
    six sons, Walter Fritz, Alfred
    Fritz, Norman Fritz, Carl Fritz,
    Arthur Fritz and Glen Fritz; five
    daughters, Mrs. Albert Strassburg,
    Mrs. Charles Kaminski, Mrs. John
    Zatsrow, Mrs. Joseph Gorman,
    Mrs. Henry Ellman; a brother
    George Fritz, all of the Tonawandas.

    MRS. IDA A. FRITZ, 79, 523 Falls Blvd., wife of Julius C. Fritz, died yesterday in DeGraff Memorial Hospital. A native of North Tonawanda, Mrs. Fritz was the mother of 11(sic) children. Survivng are her husband, Julius C., six sons: Walter, Alfred, Norman, Carl, Arthur and Glenn; five daughters, Mrs. Albert Strassburg, Mrs. Charles Kaminski, Mrs. John Zastrow, Mrs. Joseph Gorman, Mrs. Henry Ellman; 22 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Also surviving are five sisters: Mrs. Pauline Veler, Toledo, Va., Mrs. Fred Merchant and Mrs. Minnie Benson, Marshall, Mich.; Mrs. Amelia Mummert, Brustus, Mich.; Mrs. Elizabeth West, Chicago, Ill.; five brothers: Herman and John Sydow, Lansing, Mich.; William and Carl Sydow, Brutus, Mich., and Walter Sydow, Petrowsky, Mich.     Herman A. Broecker, 49 years old, of 30 Monroe avenue, died suddenly early this morning in the DeGraff Memorial hospital. Mr. Broecker was taken ill a week ago but was not removed to the hospital until last night. He was born in Wheatfield and moved here about seven years ago. He is survived by his widow Rose, two sons, Raymond, Nelson; six daughters, Viola, Eleanor, Loretta, Dorothy, Mrs. Louis Stanz and Mrs. Walter Fritz; three brothers, Albert of Youngstown, N. Y., William of North Tonawanda and Gustave of Martinsville and one sister, Mrs. William Heppner of St. Johnsberg. The funeral will be held on Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the family residence and from St Mark's church a half hour later. Rev. Paul Fretthold will officiate. Burial will be held at Elmlawn.
