Alan B. Balcom of Medina, NY, formerly of Somerset, NY, entered into rest on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 in Buffalo General Hospital. He was born in Medina, NY, on October 30, 1949, the son of the late Russell E. and Jennie A. Quiett Balcom.
Alan worked at Whiting Door in Akron as a machinist. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating and his tractors. Alan was a member of the NRA.
Father of Jennifer (Matthew) McClaine of Alaska, Laura Lee (Chris) Rockey of Elma, NY, Adam (Marion) Balcom of Lockport, Angela (John) Keith of Barker, Shannon Balcom of South Carolina, Joanna (Jesse) Bailey of Newfane, Jessie Balcom of Barker, David Balcom of Buffalo and the late Deanna "Dee Dee" Derda. Brother of Elton (Carol) Balcom of Montana and Maryanne (Charlie) Davis of Jeddo. Nephew of the late Paul Balcom. Also survived by seven grandchildren.
Friends may call at the RUTLAND-CORWIN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2670 Main St., Newfane, NY on SATURDAY from 2-5 PM. Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family in Hartland Central Cemetery.

marriage of Miss Jennie A Quiett,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs Peter A.
Quiett and Russell R Balcom, son
of Mr and Mrs. Charles Balcom,
was solemnized quietly on New Year's
eve at the Methodist Episcopal rectory,
the Rev. Peter Van Duren officiating.
The bride wore a gown of French
blue taffeta with a black hat and
gold accessories. Miss Lila L. Balcom.
sister of the groom, who attended
the bride, chose a gown of coral
Rose crepe with black hat and accessories
to match.
Henry F. Myers, ,of Youngstown,
was best man.
A wedding dinner was served at the
home of the bride's parents for the
immediate family and bridal party.
Mr. and Mrs. Balcom are making
their home at Niagara Falls.

YOUNGSTOWN, March 5-
Charles F. Balcom, 68, died suddenly
of a heart attack at his home at Ft.
Niagara beach. The Youngstown
Volunteer Fire company first aid
crew was called but Mr. Balcom
failed to respond to treatment.
He was born in the Town of Porter
and operated farms in this area
until his retirement several years
ago. Last summer his home, in the
C'tek road near Tower's Corners,
v.as burned to the ground and a
new home, under construction, is
nearly completed Mr. Balcom is
a former member of Fort Niagara
Lodge. IOOF.
He is survived by his wife, Daisy
Balcom: three daughters, Mrs. Henry
F. Myers. Belgium: Mrs. Elwin Stol-
zenberg. Burt, and Mrs. James Brosman.
this village; six sons. Lorelle,
Ransomville; Russell. Barker: Virgil.
Rochester, Charles and Loren,
both of this village, and Paul, at
home: 14 grandchildren and three
sisters. Mrs. Farl Myers. Miss Libby
Hotchkin and Mrs Burt Langdon,
all of Ransomville.
Funeral services will be held Wed-
nesday at 2 p.m. at the Hardison
Funeral home, Ransomville. The
Rev. A.C. French, of St. John's
Episcopal church, will officiate. In-
terment will be in Oakland Rural
cemetery.

BARKER-Mrs. Daisy M. Balcom,
82, of 7878 Haight Road,
died Wednesday (July 1, 1970)
at Ransomville General Hospital
after a long illness.
A former resident of the Creek
Road, Youngstown, Mrs. Balcom
was born July 4, 1887, in
Lewiston, daughter of Mathias
and Marietta Van Luven. She
was the widow of the late
Charles Balcom.
She was a member of the Rebekah
Lodge No. 459 of Lewiston,
the Lewiston-Porter Golden
Age Club and the Fillmore United
Methodist Church.
She is Survived by six sons,
Lorelle Balcom, Ransomville;
Russell and Paul Balcom of
Barker; Virgil Balcom of Rochester,
and Charles, and Loren
Balcom of Youngstown; three
daughters, Mrs. Lila Myers,
Youngstown; Mrs. Grace Stolzenberg
of Burt, and Mrs. Nor-
man Brasnan, Niagara Falls;
34 grandchildren and 30 greatgrandchildren.
Funeral services will be held
Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Hardison
Funeral Home, Ransomville,
with the Rev. Frank Mac-
Laughlin of the United Methodist
Church officiating. Burial
will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
