    Robert J. “Red” Johnson, Sr., 86, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed into eternity, surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday, September 22, 2018.  Born on November 23, 1931 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Martin and Anna (Bartko) Johnson.  On September 19, 1964, Robert married the former Joanne Boyd in Prince of Peace Church.  She predeceased him on May 10, 2013.
     
    Mr. Johnson was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY.  Robert was a graduate of the first graduating class of the former Bishop Duffy High School.  He also earned his associates degree from Erie Community College.  Mr. Johnson proudly served in the United States Army, during the Korean Conflict, from July 18, 1952 until he was honorably discharged on July 1, 1954.  Robert was employed by Bell Aerospace as a Metallurgic Technician and retired from the Niagara Falls Fire Department in 1986 as Captain.  Mr. Johnson was a communicant of St. John de LaSalle Church.  Robert’s devotion to his faith and family was first and foremost in his life.  He enjoyed woodworking and gardening.
     
    Mr. Johnson is survived by six daughters, Linda (David) D’Angelo, Cheryl (Gerard) Kline, Diane Fegatilli, Darlene Fegatilli, Barbara (James) Dotts and Mary Elizabeth (David) Ungaro and was predeceased by an infant son, Robert Joseph Johnson, Jr. Robert is also survived by nine grandchildren, Mark (Stefanie) and Nicholas D'Angelo, Kevin, James and Thomas Kline, Matthew Dotts and Jessica, Joshua and Anna Ungaro; three great-grandchildren, Lauren and Maya D'Angelo and Alexander Dehn-Kline; siblings, Josephine (late Len) Campbell and Martin (Joan) Johnson and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  In addition to his parents, wife and infant son, he was predeceased by sisters, Gladys (late Don) Sweeney and Carol Sue Adam and a brother, John Johnson.
     
    Visitation will be on Tuesday from 3-8 p.m. in the Chapel of OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY, where funeral services will begin on Wednesday, September 26th at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., which will be celebrated in St. John de LaSalle Church, 8477 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY, with Rev. Slavomir Siok, SAC serving as celebrant.  Entombment, concluding with Military Honors, will be in Acacia Park Cemetery, Garden of Peace.  Flowers are gratefully declined.  If desired, memorial offerings may be made to Niagara Hospice.  Arrangements are under the direction of Michael R. Goodlander.

    Joanne (nee Boyd) Johnson, 77, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed from this life on Friday, May 10, 2013 in Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, NY, while surrounded by her loving family. Born on September 9, 1935 in Springdale, PA, she was the daughter of the late John L. and Esther (Schafer) Boyd, Sr.
    Mrs. Johnson came to the Niagara Falls area as a child with her family and attended local schools. On September 19, 1964, Joanne married Robert J. Johnson in Prince of Peace Church. Throughout her life, she was primarily a home maker. Mrs. Johnson was a member of St. John de LaSalle Roman Catholic Church. Joanne loved taking care of her family, which was the most important aspect of her life. She also enjoyed reading, cooking and politics.
    In addition to her beloved husband of forty-eight years, Mrs. Johnson is survived by six daughters, Linda (David) D'Angelo of Wheatfield, NY, Cheryl (Gerard) Kline of Amherst, NY, Diane Fegatilli of Grand Island, NY, Darlene Fegatilli of Wheatfield, NY, Barbara (James) Dotts of Niagara Falls, NY and Mary Elizabeth (David) Ungaro of Grand Island, NY and was predeceased by an infant son, Robert Joseph Johnson, Jr. Joanne is also survived by nine grandchildren, Mark (Stefanie) D'Angelo, Nicholas (Carla) D'Angelo, Kevin Kline, James Kline, Thomas Kline, Matthew Dotts, Jessica Ungaro, Joshua Ungaro and Anna Ungaro; three great-grandchildren, Lauren and Maya D'Angelo and Alexander Dehn-Kline; her lifelong friend, Anita Nart of Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her parents and infant son, she was predeceased by her first husband, Victor Fegatilli, who passed away in March of 1960; and five siblings, John L. (late Geraldine "Jerry") Boyd, Jr., Rosemary (late Paul) Schul, Donna (Robert of the Town of Niagara, NY) Wade, Sandra (Bruno of Grand Island, NY) Moretti and David (Barbara of Massachusetts) Boyd.
    The family will be present to receive friends on Monday from 3-8 PM in the Chapel of OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (716-297-9007), where funeral services will begin on Tuesday, May 14th at 9:15 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM which will be celebrated in St. John de LaSalle Church, 8477 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY, with Rev. Slavomir Siok, SAC serving as celebrant. Prayers of committal and entombment will follow in Acacia Park Cemetery in North Tonawanda, NY. Flowers are gratefully declined.     representative of
    the AFL-CIO, died Friday
    (Oct.. 15, 1971) in Veterans
    Administration Hospital, Buffalo,
    after a short illness.
    Born in Gastonville, Pa., he
    was once a member of the
    Springdale, Pa., City Council, a
    post in which he served for
    seven years, five of them as
    president.
    He came to this area in 1942
    as a CIO representative
    assigned to the Gas, Coke and
    Chemical Union and retired
    eight years ago.
    A veteran of World War I,
    Mr. Boyd became active in the
    trade union movement in 1911.
    I^ter, he became involved in
    labor politics serving with the
    original labor's Non-Partisan
    League, the Political Action
    Committee and the Committee
    on Political Education.
    He is survived by his widow,
    Esther (Shafer) Boyd; two
    sons, John L. and David A.
    Boyd; four daughters, Mrs.
    Paul (Rosemary) Schul, Mrs.
    Robert (Donna) Wade, Mrs.
    Robert (Joanne) Johnson, and
    Mrs. Bruno (Sandra) Moretti,
    all of this city.
    Also surviving are a brother,
    Joseph Boyd of Mansfield,
    Ohio; four sisters, Mrs.
    Frederick (Anna) Wahl, Mrs.
    Joseph (Mary) Richardson,
    Mrs. William (Katherine)
    Baser, all of this city, and Mrs.
    John (Frances) Almerts of
    Hohokus, N.J., and 17 grandchildren.
    Funeral services will beheld
    at the Otto Redan/. Funeral
    Home Monday at 9:30 a.m. and
    at Prince of Peace Church at 10
    a.m. Burial will he in
    Resthaven Cemetery.
    Friends may call at the
    funeral home today from 7 to 9
    p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4
    and 7 to 9 p.m.
