Funeral services were conducted
Saturday, April 23, in Jamestown, for
Melvin E. Smith, 78, of Hamburg, who
died Wednesday, April 20, 1988 in Our
Lady of Victory Hospital.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife,
Genevieve Bichler Smith; a son,
Melvin D. Smith; four daughters, Bernice
Howard, Norma Eddy, Barbara
Thorpe, Mary Lou Best; one stepdaughter,
Barbara Siford; 15 grandchildren;
and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first
wife, Lillian Hodges Smith in 1951.
Arrangements- were made through
the Powers Funeral Home in
Jamestown with burial in Lake View
Cemetery in Jamestown.
Mr. Smith was retired from Mailable
Iron in 1974. He was a member of
Sylvan Lodge 303, F. & A. M. of
Sinclair ville.
