Helen Buhr (nee Schmitt) age 86, of Gasport, entered into rest on Saturday, September 19, 2009 at the Odd Fellow and Rebekah Health Care Facility. Born September 10, 1923 in Lockport, she was the daughter of the late Daniel W. and Hope (nee Whitman) Schmitt. Helen married Ernest A. Buhr, Jr. on February 10, 1945 at the Ridge Road Union Church in Ridgewood, NY. Mr. Buhr died July 26, 1992. She and her husband owned and operated the Newroyal Farms in Gasport. Helen was a member of Ridgewood Bible Church and had a lifetime involvement with the 4-H Club. She enjoyed gardening. Helen had lived in Gasport the past 61 years, previously of Lockport. Helen is survived by her children, Alan (Karen) Buhr of Gasport, Marilee (Milton) Merle of Attica, Dennis (Janice) Buhr of Lockport, Timothy (Deborah) Buhr of Lockport and Philip (Tammy) Buhr of Saxomburg, PA; sister of Robert (Nancy) Schmitt of Lockport and Howard Schmitt of Leesburg, FL. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at the Ridgewood Bible Church, 7070 Ridge Road, Ridgewood, NY on Tuesday, September 22, 2009 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Funeral services will be held immediately following at 1:00 PM with the Reverend Charles Jennings officiating. Interment will be in Wrights Corners Cemetery, Lockport, NY. Arrangements entrusted to the Kenneth H. Sherrie Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to American Mission for Opening Churches, P.O.
