    recently gathered at County Line
    U.M. Church dining room to
    celebrate the 50th wedding anniversary
    of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley
    Atwater, Lower Lake Road, Barker.
    Mr. Atwater and the former Leone
    Hetherley were married Sept. 25,
    1937 at North Hartland M.E. Church
    by the Rev. William Young, pastor
    of Somerset M.E. Church. Their
    attendants were Mina Richards,
    sister of the bride, and Roger
    Gaskill, cousin of the groom.
    The reception and buffet "dinner
    was hosted by their six children, Mr.
    and Mrs. John (Lana) Potter of
    Ripley; Mrs. Joseph * (Barbara)
    Kowal, Carson City, Nevada; Mr.
    and Mrs. Norman (Emily) Atwater,
    Barker; Mr. and Mrs. Richard.
    (Susan) Atwater, Barker; Mr. and
    Mrs. William (Barbara) Atwater,
    Webster; and Mr. and Mrs. Randall
    (Pamela) Atwater, Barker.
    The couple has 14 grandchildren,
    all present at the celebration.
    Mr. and Mrs. Atwater and famity
    have recently received the
    Agricultural Society Farm Award,
    their land having been in the family
    since their ancestors, Levi and Mary
    Atwater came to Somerset in the
    1850's.
    The couple are active members of
    the Barker Senior Citizens, the
    Somerset Historical Society and
    County Line U.M. Church.
    Out of state, guests were present
    from Florida, Washington, Virginia
    and Nevada.

    LOCKPORT —
    Robert D. Schmitt, age 86, of Lockport, entered into rest on Monday, December 10, 2012 at Odd Fellow and Rebekah Health Care Facility. Born on March 7, 1926 in Lockport, Robert is the son of Daniel and Hope (Whitman) Schmitt.
    Robert graduated from Lockport High School in 1943. He married Nancy MacEvoy on April 10, 1948. They had been married for 64 years. Robert was owner and partner in Newroyal Farms, a dairy and fruit farm, in Wrights Corners. A lifetime member of Ridgewood Bible Church, Robert served in many offices including the church treasurer. He was also a member of the Newfane Board of Education for 10 years in the 1960's. He enjoyed woodworking and made many items for family, friends and the church.
    He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy. Dear father of Kathleen (Richard) McIntosh of Lockport, Daniel (Lilly) Schmitt of Lockport, Emily (Norman) Atwater of Barker, Thomas (Lisa) Schmitt of Belmont, David (Theresa) Schmitt of Lockport and Nathan (Crystal) Schmitt of Akron. Brother of the late Helen Buhr and Howard Schmitt; 23 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren also survive Robert.
    Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at the Ridgewood Bible Church, 7073 Ridge Road, Lockport, NY on Thursday, December 13, 2012 from 11 AM until 12 Noon. Funeral services will be held immediately following at 12:00 PM from the church with the Reverend Charles Jennings officiating. Interment will be in Wrights Corners Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to Ridgewood Bible Church.

    Nancy Schmitt of Lockport, NY wife of the late Robert Schmitt entered into rest on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 in Buffalo, NY, born in Lockport on February 19, 1930. The daughter of the late Walter MacEvoy and Mary Isabella Zimmerman MacEvoy.
    Nancy and Robert were married for over 60 years. She was a member of the Ridgewood Bible Church where she taught junior church for decades. She loved painting, chalk drawing, horses, and spending time with her family.
    Mother of Kathleen (Richard) McIntosh, Daniel (Lillian) Schmitt, Emily (Norman) Atwater, Thomas (Lisa) Schmitt, David (Theresa) Schmitt and Nathan (Crystal) Schmitt. Sister of the late Jean (Milton) Lute, Lila (Robert) Fogel, Walter (Geraldine) MacEvoy and Annette (Harold Jr.) Swan. Also survived by 27 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
    Family and friends may call at Ridgewood Bible Church 7073 Ridge Rd. Lockport, NY on Saturday, April 2, 2022 from 11:30am – 1:00pm. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm.     BARKER, N. Y., June 22.-Puneral
    services for Mrs. Adah Atwater,
    53, wife of George Atwater, Lower
    Lake road, who died Wednesday
    night after only a few hours illness,
    will be held at the family home tomorrow
    afternoon at 2 o'clock. The
    Rev. Marcum B. May will officiate.
    Interment will be In Hartland Central
    cemetery.
    Mrs. Atwater was stricken Wednesday
    afternoon in the Methodist
    church parlars at Somerset, with a
    cerebral hemorrhage shortlv after
    closing a meeting of the Woman's
    Society of Christian Service, at
    which she had preside*. A doctor
    and ambulance were called and she
    was taken to her home, where she
    -passed-away-at-10-o'clock that
    night.
    Besides her husband, she Is sur
    vived by three sons, Stanley, of
    Barker, Corporal Elwood Atwater,
    ln the Medical Corps of the Army
    of Occupation, somewhere In Germany,
    and Melvln, at home; three
    granddaughters; two sisters. Mrs.
    Grace Gasklll. of Millers. N. Y. and
    Miss Clara Martin, of Newark, N.
    Y.
    Mrs. Atwater was the daughter
    of the late Ezra and Cora Coates
    Martin and had resided all her life
    in the Town of Somerset She was
    a member of the Somerset Union
    Methodist church, the Somerset
    Woman's Society of Christian Service,
    Somerset Orange. Millers
    Home bureau and Townsend Chapter.
    Order of the Eastern Star.
