    Lewis E. Blackley, 75, a desk
    lieutenant for the Town of Tonawanda
    police department for 40
    years, died Friday after a long
    illness, at Kenmore Mercy Hospital,
    Kenmore.
    He is survived by his widow,
    Myrtle K. Blackley of Kenmore.
    Son of John and Margaret Noble
    Blackley, Mr. Blackley was
    born Oct. 18, 1893 in Lockport.
    He retired from the Tonawanda
    police department three
    years ago. He was a member of
    the Town of Tonawanda Police
    Association, Captain and Lieu-
    tenants Association and the wes-
    tern New York State Police con-
    ference Association.
    Mr. Blackley was one of the
    first civilians to enlist in World
    War I from Lockport. He was
    a member of teh Society of First
    Divisons, M. J. Bronnchille Am-
    erican Legion Post 205. Ken-
    more, the Harry E. Crosby Vet-
    erans of Foreign Wars, 2472,
    Kenmore and the Ken-Ton Bar-
    racks 887, Veterans of World
    War 1, Kenmore.
    Besides his widow, he is
    survived by four sons, Lew-
    is K., Donald A., Bryant N. and
    Dennis C., all of Kenmore.
    He is also survived by three
    brothers; John C. and Harold N.
    of Lockport and Robert F. of Or-
    lando, Fla.
    Mr. Blackley was the brother
    of the late William Blackley,
    Mildred Blackley Savigny, Eth-
    el Blackley Dunn and Beulah
    Blackley Paladino.
    Funeral services will be held
    Monday at Lester Wedekindt fu-
    neral Home, 3290 Delaware
    Ave., Kenmore. Friends may
    call from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.

    Lewis E. Blackley. a retired
    desk lieutenant with 38 years of
    s e r v i c e to the Town of
    Niagara Falls Blvd, Tonawanda Police Depart-
    ment. died yesterday at the age
    of 75 in Kenmore Mercy
    Hospital.
    Mr Blacklev, who resided at
    104 Zimmerman Blvd., Town of
    Tonawanda, retired in 1964. A
    founder and the first executive
    secretary of the Western New
    York State Police Conference
    Association, he served in that
    office for 25 years.
    While employed in the town
    police ranks, he served as act-
    ing chief at various times. He
    was a life member of the Cap-
    tains and Lieutenants Associa-
    tion of Erie County and also be-
    longed to the Town of Tona-
    wanda Police Association.
    A native of Lockport, Mr.
    Blackley was a graduate of
    Lockport High School, where
    he was a member of the foot-
    ball team. He later served with
    the First Division, Army Engi-
    neers, during World War I, and
    received a Purple Heart after
    being wounded in France.
    A charter member of Ken-Ton
    Barracks 887. World War I Veterans.
    Mr Blackley also was a
    life member of Milton Brounshidle
    Post 205. American Legion.
    Town of Tonawanda Mr

    and the Society of the First
    Division.
    Surviving are his wife, the
    former Myrtle Kinzly. four

    LOCKPORT, Feb. 25-An illness
    of several weeks resulted in the
    death of John J. Blackley, 75, of
    67 Walnut street, yesterday at Lockport
    City hospital. Services will be
    held Thursday at 2 p. m. at the
    Prudden funeral home, 242 Genesee
    street. Burial will be in Cold Springs
    cemetery.
    Mr. Blackley was born July 4,
    1871, a son of George F. and Ellen
    Woods Blackley. He was employed
    as custodian at the Cowles Detergent
    company in Jackson street.
    . Surviving are five sons, Lewis,
    of Kenmore, William L. and Harold
    N., of this city, John C, Town of
    Amherst, and Robert F. Blackley,
    of Mlddletown, Conn.; two daugh-
    ters, Mrs. Thomas Dunn, of Medina,
    and Mrs. Fraed Savigny, of this
