    LOCKPORT — Joan Elizabeth Gresart, a longtime resident of Lockport, died peacefully on Sunday, October 13, 2013, at the Odd Fellows and Rebekah Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on June 22, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Herman Gresart and Frances (nee Briggs) Gresart. She attended school in Niagara Falls, NY.

    She was predeceased by her brother, Herman Gresart and sisters, Frances "Peggy" Rolfe and Betty Lane; step-father, George Sanney and several step-brothers and sisters. Joan is survived by her sons, Christopher (Sandra) Gresart and William Gresart, both of Lockport; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

    Joan worked and the Bickford Box Company, Kendzie's Lounge and the Salvation Army, where she retired from in 1999. She was well-known in the Lockport community through her work at the Salvation Army, and her volunteering after retirement at the Salvation Army/Sister Loretto Soup Kitchen and at the First Baptist Church. She liked spending time with her friends and family and taking walks. During her time as the Salvation Army League of Mercy Secretary, she visited and took gifts to people in local hospitals, nursing homes and institutions. She touched the lives of many people and will be dearly missed.

    Friends may call Wednesday 3 to 5 PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport, followed immediately by a funeral service at 5 PM. Memorials to the Salvation Army, 50 Cottage Street, Lockport, NY 14094, would be appreciated by the family.

    Frank Briggs, 79, of 1349 Ashland
    Ave., was pronounced dead
    on arrival at Memorial Hospital
    yesterday (Sept. 27, 1956) after he
    suffered a heart attack at the
    Thomas Cox Co. yards, in 13th
    St., where he had worked for 40
    years.
    A Fire Department first aid
    squad, directed by Acting Captain
    Alfred Winter, administered oxygen
    for 10 minutes before Mr.
    Briggs was sent to the hospital in
    an ambulance.
    Mr. Briggs was a native of Wilson
    and had lived in this city for
    the last 50 years.
    He is survived by two sons.
    Emery H. Briggs, this city and
    Howard L. Briggs, Lockport; a
    daughter, Mrs. Frances Sanncy.
    Lockport; eight grandchildren and
    eight great-grandchildren.
    Funeral services will be conduct-
    ed at 2:30 p.m. on Monday at
    the Rcdanz Funeral Home. Burial
    will be in -North Ridge Cemetery.

    46 years, Mrs. Etta L. Briggs, 73,
    of 1347 Ashland avenue, died late
    yesterday at Memorial hospital.
    The Rev. Arthur H. Schmoyer,
    D.D., pastor of the Zion Evangelical
    Lutheran church, will conduct services
    for Mrs. Briggs at 2 p.m. on
    Saturday at the Otto.F. Redanz Funeral
    home, .
    Mr*. Briggs was a member of the

    She is survived by her husband,
    Frank Briggs; two sons, Howard L,

    and Roy Phipps, Olcott. She also is
    survived by seven grandchildren and
    four great grandchildren.
