George graduated from DeSales Catholic High School, class of 1954. He owned and operated A & S Sew Vac in Lockport for 50 years, retiring in 2020. George enjoyed hiking, was a train enthusiast, and enjoyed watching sports, especially the Buffalo Bills. Past member of the Newfane Lions Club.
He was predeceased by his wife, MaryLowe (Herbert) Ames, on December 12, 2006.
George is survived by his children, George H. (Deborah) Ames, Michelle (Kevin) Thompson, and Eileen (Joseph) Portanova; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Joyce Ames; predeceased by brother, Paul Ames.
