Carlo, 88, of North Tonawanda on Tuesday, February 11, 2014, at his home, after a long illness. John was a member of St. Jude the Apostle Parish and formerly Ascension R.C. Church. Mr. Carlo retired from the Postal Service on March 30, 1989, after 41 years of service, including 19 years as Postmaster. He was active in the community as a member of Live Hose Company #4 since 1946, and served as President for four years. A member of the American Legion Post #264 since 1946. Also was past member of the Board of Trustees of the United Way of the Tonawandas, Past President of the Lions Club of the Tonawandas, and past Treasurer of the North Tonawanda Football Hall of Fame. He was Division Captain of the Heart Fund. John served as Coach for eight years for the North Tonawanda Little League and Vice President for two years. Past member of the Board of Directors of the Boys and Girls Club of the Tonawandas. He was Past President of Tan Tara Mens Club and a solicitor for Catholic Charities for 44 years. He served on the Board of Directors of DeGraff Memorial Hospital for 22 years, of which five years he was Chairman of the Board. Mr. Carlo was named Citizen of the Year in 1992. John served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theatre. Beloved husband of 66 years to Lois A. (nee Geser) Carlo. Loving father of Christine A. (Ronald) Neal of Florida, Jacqueline Sue (Kevin) Parks of North Tonawanda, and John B. (Amy) Carlo of Penfield. Brother of Connie (the late Joseph) DeLuca, Helen (the late Frank) Malone, Dorothy (Donald) Bero and the late Patricia Anastasi (Ronald). Proud grandfather of six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Friends received by the family on Thursday, February 13, 2014, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Brunner Funeral Home, 156 Robinson St., North Tonawanda. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday morning at 10:00 AM at St. Jude the Apostle Parish, 800 Niagara Falls Blvd., North Tonawanda. Please assemble at the church.     Lois A. Carlo of North Tonawanda, NY passed away on July 22, 2016, at the age of 89, beloved Wife of the late John A. Carlo; loving Mother of Christine A. (Ronald) Neal of Florida, Jacqueline Sue (Kevin) Parks of North Tonawanda and John B. (Amy) Carlo of Penfield; cherished Grandmother of ten grandchildren and “Grandma Great” of twenty three great- grandchildren; Sister of the late Richard Geser and late Jack Geser; also survived by many nieces and nephews.

    Lois loved to celebrate life and enjoyed each day. She had a life-long “love affair” with the water; she often reflected on her memories of swimming in the Niagara River and sailing with the Niagara Sailing Club. In later years she enjoyed sitting riverside eating an ice cream cone and watching the boats go by.
    Lois was an avid golf enthusiast and charter member of the Tan Tara Golf Club. She served as an active volunteer with the DeGraff Memorial Hospital Auxiliary for many years and enjoyed playing bridge, tennis and membership in a book club. Lois will be remembered as a high energy, people person who lived a full life. She was loved deeply and will be missed by her family and friends.

    The family will receive friends on July 25, 2016, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Brunner Funeral Home, 156 Robinson St., North Tonawanda. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday morning at 10:15 AM at St. Jude the Apostle Parish, 800 Niagara Falls Blvd., North Tonawanda. Please assemble at the church.
