Vertino, 79, of North Tonawanda, NY, passed from this earth, surrounded by his family, on February 19, 2014 in Niagara Hospice after a brief illness. Mike was born in Buffalo, NY on May 24, 1934, the son of the late John and Mary (nee Pappalardo) Vertino. He worked for Bethlehem Steel ,retiring in 1984, continuing to work with his sons at Kleen-All Fire Services and then Enviro-Care for many years. Mike will be remembered for his exceptional work ethic, his sharp wit, and for his love of football, especially the Oakland Raiders, which he and father passed on to his children and grandchildren. Beloved father of Michael "Mickey" (Robin) Vertino, Pamela (Mark) Jansen, Angel Kirsch and Timothy Vertino. Grandpa of ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Brother of Anita (Jerry) Sinicki, John (Ann) Vertino, Joel Vertino and Christine Fontana. Also survived by longtime companion, Eunice Sion; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends at the C. Mertz and Son Funeral Home, Inc., 911 Englewood Ave. on Saturday from 4-7 PM, where a Memorial Service will follow at 7 PM.
