    Notes:

Charlotte R. (Dawson) Mazur of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully under the care of Niagara Hospice on Sunday, August 12, 2018. Born in Branchville, SC, she was the daughter of the late Josiah and Alma Browning Dawson.

Charlotte was a graduate of Lower Richland High School, Class of 1942. After high school, she worked in the PX at Fort Jackson in Columbia SC, where she met her first husband, Anthony Vekich, Sr.. After World War II, Charlotte moved to Niagara Falls with her family. In the 1960s, Charlotte worked at the Dolly Madison bakery on Buffalo Avenue. In July 1965, she married her second husband, Walter E. Mazur, Jr., who predeceased her on July 14, 2001.

Charlotte was a woman of many interests. She enjoyed crocheting, music, reading, puzzles and word finds, bowling and bingo. She also spent many hours tuned to Judge Judy and a variety of other court TV shows. Most of all, Charlotte was dedicated to her family. Despite being burdened with many hardships throughout her life, she always persevered. Her drive and determination led her to become the consummate mom, always busy cooking, cleaning, gardening, doing home repairs etc. to provide the best life possible for her children. She was a true go-getter and was always involved in the lives of those she loved.  In her later years, she transitioned from "hands-on" to more of a "supervisory" role around the house; nonetheless, she always strived to make that house a home.

To say that Charlotte was a wonderful person would be a tremendous understatement. She was truly a fun person to be around with a smile and laugh that could light up any room. While she could be tough and demanding to those around her, it was always done with the goal of making you the best that you could be. Charlotte's kindness, caring  and love will be forever cherished and sadly missed by everyone who knew her. We were all lucky to have her.

Charlotte is survived by her children Anthony (Roxann) Vekich, Jr., Charlene Vekich, Steven Vekich and Christopher (Allicia) Mazur. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Bridget (Richard) Cadwalader; Anthony (Daniella) Vekich, III; Shawn (Rhonda) Vekich; Amanda (Cliff) Cobb; Brianna (Greg) Bonnette; Chandra Vekich-Fitzsimmons and Lucas Mazur, along with 16 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Charlotte is also survived by her sister, Betty R. Briggs of Lone Star, SC as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Charlotte was predeceased by her brothers Joseph, J.B. and Francis Dawson.

Arrangements will be made through Lane Funeral Home, 8622 Buffalo Ave., Niagara Falls, NY. The family will be present for visitation there on Thursday, August 16, 2018 from 4 PM to 8 PM; internment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Lewiston, NY at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Charlotte's memory to Niagara Hospice at www.niagarahospice.org/donation.
