Notes:

Lockport:  Velva C. VanBuren, 91, passed away May 11, 2022.  She was born June 27, 1930 in Akron a daughter of the Ervin and Elida (Brewer) Criswell. Velva helped on the family farm and had milked 250 cows by herself once a day for many years. Mrs. VanBuren loved flowers,  decorating for Christmas, and enjoyed cooking and baking for family get togethers during the holidays.  At one time, she drove a team of horses on a two row cultivator, growing vegitables for the family and public market.
She was predeceased by sons, Jerry VanBuren and Daryl Hoste.
She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Walter; children, Karen (Don) Gibb, Sheila Bruckner, Denise Dubois, Beverly (Dan) Smith, Verne VanBuren, Sharlyn Kennedy; brother, Marshall (Rose) Criswell; 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins.
The family will receive friends at the Sherrie Bream Funeral Home, 4521 Main St. Gasport on Thursday, May 19, from 4:00-8:00 where Velva’s funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00am.  Interment in Royalton Union Cemetery.

Monday (May 29, 1972) at
Lockport Memorial Hospital
after a long illness
He was born in Newstead and
operated his own farm at the
Ertman Road address all his
life. He retired 10 years ago.
He is survived by his widow,
Elida (Brewer) Criswell; eight
daughters, Mrs. Doris Hicks of

sister, Mrs. Eva Van Buren of
Clarence Center; a brother,
Charles Criswell of Akron, and
several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 2 to 4
and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Gaul
Funeral Home, 263 East Ave.,
where services will be held at 2
p.m. Thursday. The Rev.
Donald C. Medoff of the
Royalton Baptist Church will
officiate.
Burial will be in Acacia Park
Cemetery.

Mrs. Catherine A. Brewer,
95, who leaves 170 direct descendants,
died Tuesday (May
26, 1964) at the home of a
daughter, Mrs Norman Berner,
249 Davison Road, after a long
illness.
Mrs. Brewer was born in the
Town of Royalton, April 10,
1869, daughter of Charles H.
and Hilda Middaugh Schad. She
was the widow of Eugene W.
Brewer.
Besides Mrs. Berner, she Is
survived by four other daugha
ters, Mrs. Angle Peters, Mid-
dleport; Mrs. Irving Criswell,
Lockport, and Mrs. Charles
Criswell and Mrs. H o w a rd
both of Akron; two
sons, George A. Brewer, Middleport,
and Norman Brewer of
