    the immediate family at 12:30
    and an open house at Rapids
    Community Hall from 2 to 5:00
    p.m. Sunday afternoon for relatives
    and friends, will form
    the celebrations for the 50th
    wedding anniversary for Mr.
    and Mrs. Walter J. Bowen of
    Bowen Road.
    Gold candles and bronze
    chrysanthemums will flank a
    centerpiece of yellow roses
    and chrysanthem is at the
    buffet table. Mrs. Bowen will
    receive their guests wearing
    a green print silk dress.
    Mr. Bowen, who took the
    former Miss Jennie Muck of
    the Town of Royaton for his
    bride at Rapids Feb 21, 1912,
    is still active as a dealer in
    farm machinery, as well as
    being a director of Erie and
    Niagara Insurance Assn. Co.,
    and a member of Rapids Volunteer
    Fire Co.
    The couple, who have lived
    In their present home for 46
    years, are members of EUB
    Church Rapids. They have two
    sons, Lloyd of Lockport, and
    Kermit, who resides at Newfane.
    There are also two
    grandchildren.
    Relatives and friends are
    cordially invited to attend the
    open house.

    Plains passed away Saturday.
    March 10. at the home of her
    daughter. Miss Mabel Bowen, of the
    Rapids. She leaves to mourn her
    loss besides her husband, two
    daughters Mrs. Earle Covel, Miss
    Olive Bowen, and one son, Walter
    Bowen; also five grandchildren.

    Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bowen of Carl
    Road celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary
    last Wednesday by entertaining
    the Ladles' Aid Of the United
    Brethren Church of the Rapids. There
    was a large attendance, and Mr. and
    Mrs. Bowen served a fine dinner and
    the occasion was greatly enjoyed by
    the guests.

    The death of Mrs. Julia Bowen, a
    lifelong resident of the town of
    Somerset, near County Line, occurred
    this morning at eight o'clock at the
    home of her son, Mr. Linus Bowen, of
    Carmon road, aged 83 years.
    Mrs. Bowen was the daughter of
    Josiah and Phoebe Bullen, old pioneer
    settlers who bought Tend from a land
    company and built their home. In
    those days, when going to the mill at
    Lyndonville, Mr. Bullen would have

    Deceased was the mother of ten
    children, aevea of whom are still living:
    one son, Linus Bowen, of Cannon

    of Lyndonville, Mrs. Charles Annis:
    of Barker, Mrs. Adella Mudge, of
    Lockport, and Mrs. Ward Smith, of
    Medina. She is also survived by
    eighteen grandchildren and thirteen
    great grandchildren. Mrs. Hila Poler,
    of this place, is a daughter-in-law of
    the deceased.
