    BARKER - Funeral services
    were held today for Donald Bowers,
    48, formerly of Barker, who
    died unexpectedly Thursday, (July
    13, 1961) in a dentist's chair in
    Portland Me. while waiting to
    have his tooth extracted.
    The rites were held at 2 this
    afternoon at the Hood Funeral
    Home, Barker, followed by burial
    in Lynhaven Cemetery, Lyndon-
    ville.
    Born Dec. 28, 1912, the son of
    Mr. and Roy Bowers, Barker, he
    lived in the Barker-Lockport area
    until the outbreak of World War
    II, when he enlisted in the U.S.
    Navy. Upon his discharge he be
    came associated with the Ingraham
    Jack Insurance Agency of
    Westbrook, Me.
    Before enlisting he was employed
    at Paris Dry Clenaers in
    Lockport, and Harrison Radiator
    Division. General Motors Corp.
    A member of the Naval Reserves,
    he was called back to duty
    in the Korean War, when he was
    stationed in Japan. At the conclusion
    of the Korean Conflict, he
    returned to his home in Portland.
    where he was employed until the
    time of his death.
    Besides his parents, he leaves
    two daughters, Miss Yvonne Bow
    ers and Miss Carol Bowers of
    Lewiston, Me.; one son, Wayne
    Bowers of Gasport; and a sister,
    Mrs. Floyd Seward of Gasport.

    Donald married BAES, Grace Iona on 20 May 1937. Grace (daughter of BAES, John H and CHASE, Hattie) was born on 26 Sep 1912 in New York; died on 12 Mar 2007 in Town of Newfane, Niagara County, NY. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    Roy Bowers, 84, a lifelong resident
    of Barker, died Saturday
    (Feb. 10, 1968) in Hilltop Nursing
    Home, Gasport.
    Mr. Bowers, who lived on the
    West Somerset Road, was born
    Sept. 13,1883, the son of Andrew
    A. Bowers and Louisa Southwick
    Bowers.
    For many years a farmer In
    the area, Mr. Bowers, in recent
    years was employed by the
    Southland Frozen Foods Inc.,
    Barker.
    In 1910 he married Florence
    Stockton, who survives him.
    He was a member of the Bar
    ker Methodist Church.
    Also surviving are one daughter,
    Mrs. Helen Seward of Gasport;
    five grandchildren, two
    great - grandchildren, and a
    sister, Mrs. Ethel Meland of
    Appleton.
    Burial was this morning in
    Lynhaven Cemetery, Lyndonville.

    were host and hostess to 54 guests
    at a surprise reception on Sunday
    afternoon in honor of the 59th
    wedding anniverary of Mrs.
    Seward's parents, Mr. and Mrs.
    Roy Bowers of Barker.
    The table, covered with a lace
    cloth, was centered with an appropriately
    decorated sheet cake
    and yellow roses in white and
    gold vases. Mr. and Mrs. Bowers
    wore matching boutonniere and
    corsage of golden yellow sweetheart
    roses to complement their
    attire.
    Mrs. Clare Foss of Lyndonville
    and Miss Meryl Walker, Hartland,
    cut and served the cakes. Mrs.
    Lee Seward and Mrs. Eugene
    Mandaville, both of Hartland
    poured coffee, tea and punch

    funeral of John Baes, 65, who for 35
    years worked for the Friend Manu-
    facturing company here, will be held
    at 2 p.m. Monday at the Friend's
    church. Burial will be in Hartland
    Central cemetery. Mr. Baes, who
    died yesterday at his home in Myr-
    tie avenue, after an extended illness,
    was born in the Town of Hartland,
    August 5, 1879, son of John and Rose
    Baes. He is survived by his wife,

    Grace Schiersing, and a son, Roland

    Andrew Bowers died Thursday of
    old age inflrmatives. The funeral
    was held Sunday afternoon at 2
    o'clock at the home of his daughter.
    Mrs. Charles Meland, Coleman
    road. Barker. The Rev. W. J. Harrington
    of the Barker M. E. church
    will officiate. Interment will be at
    Somerset.
    Mr. Bowers was well known in
    this community where he had spent
    his entire life.
    He is survived by one son, Ray
    Bowers of Barker, and several
