    NEWFANE - Gerald E. "Ed" Goodman died, suddenly, at his home on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at the age of 59.

    Ed was born July 24, 1954 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late Malcolm E. and Betty Jane (Oliphant) Goodman. He was a 1972 graduate of Newfane High School and had attended Niagara County Community College. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in October of 1972, and served until his honorable discharge in July of 1975. Along with his brother, Stephen, Ed owned and operated Betty Jane Cabins in Newfane. He had also worked at Lebrag-Garbel Welding in Lockport.

    Ed was a life member of the Niagara County Motorcycle Club, a member of the Concordia Lutheran Church in Newfane, and the Antique Motorcycle Club of America. He was appreciated for his knowledge and lifelong passion for old machinery, particularly his antique motorcycles. Ed was a lover of music, and especially enjoyed playing his guitar. He also was an avid reader.

    He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Rebecca A. (Hoffner) Goodman; his children, Jenifer A. Edgar of Newfane, Ellen M. (Leo) Walker of Asheville, NC, Natalie J. (Josh) Verheyn of Indiana, and Gloria (Bart) Langendorfer of Ransomville; his grandchildren, Nyx Verheyn, Duane Langendorfer and Julius Walker; two brothers, Stephen (Susan) Goodman of Newfane and Douglas Goodman of Port Townsend, WA; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

    Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville on Friday from 4-8 PM. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 21, at 11:00 AM in the funeral home, with the Rev. David Duke officiating. Burial will follow in North Ridge Cemetery, Church Rd., Town of Cambria. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Concordia Lutheran Church, 3121 Beebe Rd., Newfane, NY 14108.

    LOCKPORT — Malcolm E. "Bose" Goodman, age 91, of Newfane, died Wednesday, September 12, 2012 in the Odd Fellow & Rebekah Health Facility in Lockport, after a lengthy illness.

    Bose was born March 3, 1921 in Lewiston, the son of the late Erwin and Florence (Schultz) Goodman and was a lifelong resident of Newfane. A veteran of WW II, he served in the U.S. Navy Submarine Service from 1942 until his honorable discharge as a Fireman 1 C in 1945. On October 19, 1946, Bose married Betty Jane (Oliphant) Goodman at St. Peter Lutheran Church at North Ridge. Betty Jane predeceased him on May 28, 2010.

    From 1957 to 1972, Bose owned and operated Goodman's Amoco in Newfane. He also co-managed Betty Jane's Cottages with his wife. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church at North Ridge.

    He is survived by three sons, Douglas Goodman of Port Townsend, WA, Stephen (Susan) Goodman and Gerald "Ed" (Rebecca) Goodman, both of Newfane; his grandchildren, Sara (Cliff) LaPort, Jennifer Edgar, Emily, Laura and Ellen Goodman, Natalie (Joshua) Verheyn and Gloria (Bart) Langendorfer; his great-grandchildren, Lucas and Nicholas LaPort, Nyx Verheyn and Duane Langendorfer; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Ruth Reedy and Janet Schultz; and a brother, Gordon Goodman.

    Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville on Wednesday, September 19, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM in the funeral home, the Rev. Robert Hoffman officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in North Ridge Cemetery, Church Rd., Town of Cambria.     Newfane - Betty Jane Goodman, age 85, longtime resident of the Town of Newfane, passed away Friday, May 28, 2010 at her residence under the loving care of her family and Niagara Hospice. Betty Jane was born January 1, 1925 in Niagara Falls, NY, the daughter of the late Ennis and Margaret (Heywang) Oliphant and was a 1942 graduate of Wilson High School. During WW II, Betty Jane was employed at Bell Aircraft as a "Rosie the Riveter". She married Malcolm "Bose" Goodman on October 19, 1946 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church at North Ridge in the Town of Cambria. Betty Jane was the owner/manager of Betty Jane Cabins and co-owned with her husband, Goodman's Garage, both located at Goodman's Corners in Newfane. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church at North Ridge and enjoyed knitting, crafts, quilting, and canning. In addition to her beloved husband, Malcolm "Bose" Goodman, she is survived by her sons, Douglas Goodman of Port Townsend, WA, Stephen (Susan) Goodman and Gerald "Ed" (Rebecca) Goodman, both of Newfane; her grandchildren, Sara (Cliff) LaPort, Jenifer Edgar, Emily, Laura, Ellen, Natalie, and Gloria Goodman; her great- grandchildren, Lucas and Nicholas LaPort; two brothers, Charles (Betsy) Oliphant and Jim (Barbara) Oliphant; three sisters, Marjorie Eodice, Helen (Harold) Denny and Dorothy (Bernard) Seefeldt; a sister-in-law, Marie Goodman; and several nieces and nephews.     Orde C. Hoffner, Jr., age 85, of Lewiston, and husband of Velma M. Hoffner (nee Keller), entered to rest on Sunday, May 30, 2021 at Mount St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, NY. Orde was born on November 16, 1935 in Hyde, PA. He is the son of the late Orde C. Hoffner, Sr. and the late Ellen (Way) Hoffner.
    Orde graduated from Bellefonte High School and went on to study at the Pennsylvania State University. He married Velma M. Keller on April 6, 1957. Orde served in the Army from 1955 to 1958.
    Orde was a Project Manager and retired from Philip Services of Buffalo, NY, in 1998, and had previously worked for the Albert Elia Building Company for 17 years. One of his proudest accomplishments was his design and surveying work for the cloverleaf interchange to the Interstate I-190 in Lewiston.
    Orde played the banjo and bluegrass music as a member of the Grass Act Band and the Niagara County Ramblers. He also enjoyed playing bluegrass with members of the Fox Den. Orde enjoyed camping, boating, RVing, and flying remote controlled airplanes.
    Orde is survived by his wife, Velma; their children, Rebecca (late Edward) Goodman, Daniel Hoffner, and Karl (Sally) Hoffner; and five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his sister, Jane (late John) Frank.
    Family and friends will be received from 10:00 AM till 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 12th, 2021, at Hardison Funeral Home, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston, NY. A memorial service will follow immediately at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in North Ridge Cemetery, Town of Cambria, at a later time.
    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Upper Mountain Volunteer Fire Company, 839 Moyer Rd., Lewiston, NY 14092.
