Rita M. (Barto) Del Zoppo, 90, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at Elderwood Health Care Facility at Riverwood in Grand Island, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Carmella "Millie" (White) Barto.
Rita was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls and attended local schools. On August 4, 1945, she married Adolph J. "Del" Del Zoppo in St. Joseph's Church in Niagara Falls. He predeceased her on September 14, 2000 after 55 years of marriage. For 37 years, Rita worked at the Como Restaurant until her retirement in 1990. She was also longtime active member of our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Niagara Falls.
Rita is survived by her three children, Daniel (Marilyn) Del Zoppo of Las Vegas, NV, Richard (Joanne) Del Zoppo of Grand Island, NY and Diane (John) Glose of Niagara Falls, NY; six grandchildren, Daniel Del Zoppo, Debra (James) Rupe, Michelle (Christopher) Taylor, Michael Del Zoppo, Dr. Jennifer (Paul Clifton) Glose and Jaclyn (Jesse) Tronolone; four great-grandchildren, Taylor, Morgan, Tristen and Talia; one sister, Dolores (late James) Tweed of Niagara Falls, NY; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also predeceased by two brothers, Joseph "Curly" (Dolores of Niagara Falls, NY) Barto, Peter (late Celia) Barto; three sisters, Ann (late Frank) Aversa, Florence (late Mario) Quaglia and Jennie (late James) Cardamone.
Visitation will be on Monday from 4-8 PM at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, September 23rd at 10:00 AM at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at St. Joseph's Church, 1413 Pine Ave., Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Duane Klizek officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery Niagara Falls, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to the Hospice Foundation of Buffalo, 225 Como Park Blvd., PO Box 590, Buffalo, NY 14240.
