    J. Retd Gow, entered into rest
    at her late home, Tuesday, Dec
    22, 1959. Besides her husband, she
    is survived by two daughters,
    Mrs. Frederick Strebe of Tona-
    wanda, Mrs Walter McPherson,
    at home; three sons,, Walter and
    Robert, both of Appleton; and
    George, at home; also survived
    by 10 grandchildren three great-
    grandchildren, and several
    niees and nephews. Friends
    may call at her late home, where
    services will be held Thursday,
    Dec. 24, at 2 p.m. Interment in
    Hartland Central Cemetery.

    In a house built in 1861 on Gow Road, Appleton, on
    the farm purchased in 1831 by his grandfather, J. Reid
    Gow and his bride of 50 years ago entertained Tuesday
    afternoon and evening at a reception in honor of their
    Golden Wedding anniversary.
    Approximately 100 guests called
    to congratulate the couple, seven
    of whom were present at the wedding
    50 years ago.
    Mr. Gow was born April 18,
    1876 in the house which replaced
    a log cabin on the farm at the
    time of its purchase. Mrs. Gow,
    born April 24, 1881, is the former
    Myra Branch, daughter of the late
    Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Branch of
    Hatter Road, Newfane.
    The couple was married
    Dec. 7, 1904 at the home of
    her parents, witnessed \ Mrs.
    Jessie C. Waring and Mrs.
    Sarah A. Branch. Eighty-one
    guests attended the wedding.
    Mr. and Mrs. Gow had six children:
    Gladys Agnes, who died at
    the age of three years; Helen, married
    Frederick Strebe of Tonawanda;
    Walter, of Appleton, married
    Pansy Lucas; Robert, of Hartland,
    married Jean Bower; George, at
    home; Myrabelle, married Walter
    McPherson, spending the winter
    at Lakeland, Fla. They also have
    nine grandchildren.
    Engaged in dairy farming. Mr.
    Gow raises guernseys. He is a former
    school teacher, having attend
    ed District Two School, Town of
    Hartland and Lockport High
    School. He began teaching in 1895
    and taught in many of the districts
    throughout the county. He
    retired from teaching to devote
    full time to farming.
    Mr. Gow is a Mason of 35
    years standing, belonging to
    Newfane Lodge 947. He also
    belongs to the Niagara County
    'Farm Bureau, of which he
    has been a member since its
    organization in 1914.
    The couple are members of
    Newfane Methodist Church, where
    Mrs. Gow is a member of the
    Women's Society of Christian Service.
    She also is a member of the
    WCTU and Home Bureau of North
    Hartland.
    Guests were present at the reception
    from Gasport, Lockport,
    Tonawanda. Newfane and Hartland.
