    He was born in Boonville,
    Oct. 5, 1890, son of James H.
    and Mary Horton Denslow.
    He married Alice Briggs in
    Boonville April 5, 1907. She
    died Dec. 17, 1959.
    He was a life resident of
    this vicinity, except for a few
    years in Syracuse, where he
    was engaged in mason work.
    He operated a canal boat
    on the Black River and Erie
    Canals from 1910 to 1922. He
    also operated a sandpit and
    sand block works near Alder
    Creek Station.
    Six years ago he started a
    service station operation on
    Rte. 28 at Alder Creek. He
    operated the station until his

    He was_of Methodist faith.
    Surviving are four sons,
    Floyd, Syracuse; Leafeo and
    Cecil, Foresport; Thomas,
    Westmoreland; four daughters,
    Mrsi'Daniel Brown, Yorkville;
    Mrs.- Alfred Knowles,
    Mrs. John Majczak and Mrs.
    Stanley Starzyk, all of Utica;
    a brother, ,George, Boonville;
    four sisters, Mrs. Hayes
    Golden, Rome; Mrs. Raymond
    Cotton, Syracuse; Mrs. John
    Gehringer, Chadwicks; Mrs.
    Richard Buck, Whitesboro;
    an uncle, 25 grandchildren, 7
    great grandchildren, and sev-
    eral nieces and nephews.
    The funeral will be at 2
    tomorrow from Trainor Fu-
    neral Home, Boonville, the
    Rev. Alton A. Parker, pastor
    of the Boonville Methodist
    Church, officiating. Burial
    will be in Alden Creek Ceme-
    tery.

    FORESTPORT — Mrs. Alice G.
    Denslow, 71, wife of L. Gould Denslow,
    died unexpectedly yesterday
    at her home here.
    The daughter of Benjamin and
    Fannie Bates Briggs, she was
    born in Boonville, Aug. 16, 1888.
    She attended Boonville schools
    and was a member of the Methodist
    Church.
    On April 5, 1907, in Boonville.
    she was married to L. G. Denslow,
    and from 1910 to 1922 they operated
    a canal boat on the B l a ck
    River and Erie Canals. Six years
    ago they built a gas station, restaurant
    and cabins on Route 28
    here.
    Surviving besides her husband,
    are four sons, Floyd, Syracuse;
    Lea foe and Cecil, Forestport, and
    Thomas Denslow, Westmoreland;
    four daughters, Mrs. D a n i el
    Brown, Yorkville; Mrs. 'Alfred
    Knowles, Mrs. John Majczak and
    Mrs. Stanley Starzyk, all of Utica;
    two brothers, Charles and Ervin
    Briggs, Rome; one sister, Mrs.
    Ervin Johnson, Rome; 25 grandchildren
    and 12 great - grandchildren.
    Funeral services will be held at
    2 p. m. Monday at the Trainor Funeral
    Home, Boonville, with the
    Rev. Alton A. Parker, pastor of
    the Boonville Methodist Church officiating.
    Burial will be in the Alder
    Creek Cemetery.
    Friends may can at the funeral
    home at their convenience.

    Boonville, May 24.-Benjamin A.
    Briggs, aged 80, passed away Friday
    afternoon at his home on the
    Hnwklnavllle road. Although Mr.
    Briggs had been In falling health
    for some time, the end came very
    suddenly.
    Mr. Briggs was born In Boonville
    Sept 22,1849. the son of Solomon
    and Olive Meeker Briggs. He married
    Fannie Bates of Clayville. who
    passed away several years ago.
    Mr. Briggs was well known In
    this vicinity, having lived In Boonville
    practically all his life.
    Surviving are three daughters,
    Mrs. Albert C. Andrews, Boonville;
    Mrs. L. G. Den slow. Alder
    Creek, and Mrs. Erwin L. Johnson
    of Rome, and two sons, Charles
    and Irving L. Briggs, Port Leyden;
    also one sister, Mrs. William
    Locker, Port Leyden.

    Monday evening, July 28, at 8 o'
    clock at the home of Rev. G. H. H.
    Davis, occurred the marriage of Miss
    Flora Dell Briggs, daughter of Mr.
    and Mrs. Benjamin Briggs of Boon-
    ville and Erwin Lymon Johnson, son
    of Mr. and Mrs. gilbert Johnson of
    Port Leyden. they were attended by
    Mr. and Mrs. Chris E Backman, the
    ??
    The bride looked very charming in a
    white georgette crepe dress and wore
    a white picture hat and carried a bou-
    quet of white roses and maiden hair
    ferns. the bridesmaid wore a hand-
    some dress of pink crepe georgette
    crepe with a large picture hat and al-
    so carried a bouquet of pink and white
    roses. The parlor was beautifully
    decorated with ferns and roses. After
    congratulations a reception was held
    at the home of the groom's parents;
    served by Mrs. Fred Mahaney of Port
    Layden and Mrs. Amos Martin of
    Chatuaugay, the latter being a sister
    of the groom. the presents were
    many and beautiful including ??
    and useful gifts. the bride's gift to
    the maid was a gold brooch set with
    gems. The groom's gift to the best
    man was a gold pocket knife. Amid
    a shower of rice and confetti the hap-
    py couple left for a short wedding
    trip.
