Mrs. George Amnion has received
the sad news of the death of her
brother. George Briggs. which occurred
at Utica on Saturday.

The remains of George Briggs Jr..
who died in Utica were brought to
this village Sunday and interred In
the Ava Cemetery. He was a son
of the late George and Kate Briggs
of this place and was born here October
12. 1854. He leaves his wife.
several children, and one sister, Mrs.
George Ammon of West Leyden.

Ava. Sept. 20-A number from This
place attended the funeral of George
Briggs at West Leyden on Sunday.
Mr. Briggs was well known, having
Been a resident of Lee and Ava for a
number of years until he removed to
West Leyden. His wife died about
two years ago. Since then he has
made his home with his daughter,
Mrs, George Amroon, who has kindly
cared for him in his last days. He also
leaves one son, George of Utica.
They have the sympathy of all. A male
quartet of Ava sung at the funeral
services

George married Catherine about 1853. Catherine was born in Jun 1829 in New York; died about 1905 in West Leyden, Lewis County, NY. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
