    ADAMS CENTER -Mrs
    Fern Beam, 80, died Satur-
    day at 4:30 p.m. in the Hill-
    crest Nursing home, Adams,
    were she had been a patient
    three years..
    The funeral will be Tues-
    day at 1 p.m.. at the Wildman
    funeral home, Whitesville.
    Burial will be in Union cem-
    etery, Alfred's Station.
    Surviving are two daugh-
    ters, Mrs. Lyle (Arloine)
    Cady, Adams Center and Mrs.
    John (Ernestine) Sherburne,
    Hornell; three grandchildren
    and four great-grandchildren;
    a brother, John Briggs, Ontar-
    io, N.Y. and a sister, Mrs
    Gertrude Scott, Belmont.
    She was born March 4, 1888
    at Almond, a daughter of
    Delbert and Wealthea
    Briggs. After attending Al-
    mond school, she was mar-
    ried to George Lewis of Al-
    fred Station in 1907. He op-
    erated a store at Whitesville
    and was also the postmaster
    from 1925 to 1938, retiring
    in 1946
    Mrs.. Beam assisted in the
    post office for 15 years. The
    couple came to Adams Ce-
    ter, spending summers on
    Cady road, and winters in
    Florida, until his death in
    1957.
    On June 12, 1962, she mar-
    tied Ralph Beam of Franklin,
    Ind. Later, the couple sep-
    erated.
    She was a member of the
    Universalist church, Whites-
    ville, and a member of the
    Rebekahs.

    On Tuesday^ July 21, 1931 at
    Jones Memorial 'hospital in Wellsville
    occurred the death of Mrs. Weltha
    Selden Briggs, aged 77 years, of
    heart disease.
    Deceased, who was born in the
    town of Willing, was united in
    marriage to Adalbert C. Briggs on
    February 4, 1886 and they resided in
    Almond, Andover and Whitesvllle,
    but for years occupied a farm outside
    of Andover where Mr. Briggs
    died a number of years ago.
    Mrs. Briggs leaves four children,
    Mrs. G. {M. Lewis of Whitesville,
    John and Howard Briggs of Andover
    and Mrs. Maynard Scott of Belmont.
    The funeral service will be held
    from the Methodist Church in Andover,
    today, Thursday, July 23, 1931
    at 2 p. m., and burial will be at
    Hallsport, N. Y., Rev. R. C. Shergur
    of Andover officiating.
    Mrs. Briggs was a member of the
    Methodist church in Port Allegany,
    Pa.
