    Martha May Mathew, 85, of Sebring, Florida, died May 17, 2006 in her residence.

    She was born January 20, 1921 in Wolcott to the late Lawrence and Lillian (Raider) Troxel. She married Raymond Mathew on March 29, 1941; he died in October of 1998.

    Mathew and her husband lived in Wolcott for 40 years where he farmed and she took care of their 12 children. She and her husband later moved to Rensselaer where they owned/operated the North Side Tavern prior to moving to Sebring, Fla. in 1984. She was a member of the St. Catherine Catholic Church in Sebring and was a former member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Remington. She enjoyed square dancing in her younger years and loved to read.

    Surviving are sons Tommy (Nancy) Mathew, Monticello, Dale (Shirley) Mathew, Reynolds, Mack (Debra) Mathew, Lafayette, Nick Mathew, Indianapolis, Eric (Monica) Mathew, Kokomo; daughters Mary Poindexter, Lafayette, Judy Mathew, Sebring, Fla., Karon (Phillip) Lynd, Ft. Worth, Texas, Sharon (Doc) Reinhold, Monticello, Vickey (Paul) Sietsma, Lafayette, Lesa Lou Solar, Sebring, Fla., and Kimmie Dee (Irvin) Deneen, Sebring, Fla.; a sister, Jean Tucker, Lafayette; 19 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren whom she loved very much.

    Preceding her in death are three sisters, Alice (Nesius) Schuh, Lloyd Mathew and Innie Fisher.

    A rosary service will be held at 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, visitation to follow from 5-8 p.m. at the Foster-Clapper Funeral Home, Wolcott. Graveside rites will be held Thursday, June 1 at the Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Rensselaer, with Rev. Thomas Fox officiating.

    Memorials may be made in her memory to the St. Elizabeth Hospice Program (1415 Salem St. Suite 202 W. Lafayette, Indiana 47904).

    Grandsons Serve As Pallbearers

    Funeral services were held Monday morning at 10 o'cock at the Sacred Heart Church in Remington for Levi Mathew, a well known resident to the Wolcott community who passed away Friday morning at the St. Elizabeth hospital, at Lafayette. The services were largely attended.
    Pallbearers were grandsons Edward Wagner, Dean Norwood, Melvin Wagner, Robert Deno, Albin Anstette and Gene Deno. Father Leo McHale officiated and burial was made in the Sacred Heart cemetery at Remington. The Foster Funeral Home of Wolcott was in charge of the rites.

    WOLCOTT, Dec. 1-Levi Mathew, 74, a retired farmer, died at St. Elizabeth hospital, Lafayette, yesterday. He had been a patient there three weeks.
    He had lived in this community more than 70 years and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic church, Remington. He was first married to Armelia Propo, who died in 1926, then, on Dec. 26, 1939 he was married to Claire Ribard.
    He was the eldest of 11 children and was the father of 11 children.
    Surviving with the widow are the 11 sons and daughters, Mrs. John Wagner, Edwin Mathew, Mrs. Lawrence Mathew, Mrs. George Zeno, Mrs. Elmer Zeno, Ryland Mathew, Mrs. Rita Mattes, and Raymond Mathew, of this community, and Mrs. W.N. Norwood, Lason, Ill., Mrs. Ervin Anstett, Earl Park, and Mrs. George Faker, Chalmers; and eight brothers, Ned, Fred, William, Oscar, Arthur, Amos, Clarence and Herman Mathew, of this community, and two sisters, Mrs. Fred Guimond, Manteno, Ill., and Mrs. Felix Delisle, Boronnate, Ill.

    Mrs. Anna Mathews Dies Friday Morn

    Mrs. Anna (Lebow) Mathew, 78, widow of the late Alfred Mathew, and a resident of Remington, died Friday evening at 8:30 o'clock at St. Elizabeth hospital, in Lafayette where she had been a patient since Dec. 5. Born in St. George, Ill., on July 6, 1860, she was married to Mr. Mathew 62 years ago. or many years they lived on a farm south o Wolcott, and after Mr. Mathew's death, she went to Remington live. She was a member of the Sacred Hert Catholic church at Remington. She leaves 11 children, Levi, Alfred, Williaf, Oscar, Arthur, Amos, Clarence and Herman, all of Wolcott; Meddie, of Chicago; Mrs. Mina Belisle, of St. George, Ill., and Mrs. Cordelia Guimond, Menteno, Ill.
    Funeral services were held Monday morning at 9 o'clock from the Sacred Heart church, Remington. Burial in the Catholic cemetery at Remington.
