    Mr. Broder-|
    ick was born
    Dec. 10, 1877,
    in South Towns
    h i p , outside
    St. Catharines.
    Ont., and c a m e
    to this city at
    the age of 16
    with his family.
    He founded the River Sand
    Co., the predecessor of the
    Empire Builders Supply Co.
    At the time of his retirement
    at age 71, he was president of
    Empire supply.
    Mr. Broderick, a Republican,
    was first elected to the
    Board of Supervisors from the
    city's 4th Ward. When the Village
    of LaSalle was annexed
    by the city in 1927, part of the
    4th Ward b e c a m e the 14th
    Ward and he continued to represent
    that ward. In all, he
    served 20 years on the Board
    of Supervisors and was chairman
    during his last year.
    Served on Committee
    He was on m a n y of the
    board's committee, and wa»
    chairman of its Finance Committee
    for a number of years.
    He was a member of the
    Buffalo and Niagara Parks
    Planning Commission. It was
    largely through his efforts as
    a member of this commission
    that negotiations for the development
    of the north end
    of Grand Island as an approach
    to the then proposed
    bridge to this city were completed.
    On ABC Board
    He served for some 11
    years on the Niagara County
    Alcoholic Beverage Control
    Board and was a member on
    the city's advisory harbor commission
    for years.
    He formerly was active in
    the Eagles lodge here and at
    one time was its president. He
    also was a former member of
    the Niagara F a l l s Country
    Club and a member of the
    Niagara Club.
    He was married first to the
    former Nancy May Laing,
    who died about six years ago.
    He later married Billie Roberts.

    Surviving, in addition to his
    !wife, are two sons, George R.
    Broderick and W i l l a r d H.
    Broderick, 11 grandchildren
    and 7 great-grandchildren.
    Rev. Ray K. Hallin, minister
    of Bacon M e m o r i al
    Church, will officiate at the
    funeral at 3 p.m. Saturday at
    : Gridley Funeral Home.
    Burial will be in Riverdale
    ' Cemetery.
    The family will be at the
    funeral home from 3 to 5 and
    7 to 9 p.m. Friday.
