IS DEAD AT 64
Funeral Services for Public
Service Department Head
To Be Held Wednesday.
Funeral services for Frederick W.
Strieker, 64, of 1357 Linwood avenue,
superintendent of public service in
this city, who died at 9:30 o'clock
last night In Memorial hospital, will
be held Wednesday at the family
home at 2 p.m.
Mr. Stricker a lifelong resident of
Niagara Falls, and a public office
holder for 41 years, succumbed to
a second stroke late yesterday after-
noon. He was first stricken with a
cerebral hemmorrhage Thursday and
was rushed to the hospital, where
his condition grew steadily worse.
Death came slightly more than
two months before Mr. Stricker was
scheduled to retire from public life
on January 1.
33 Years in City's Service
A conscientious public employee,
mr. Sticker spent 33 years in the
city 's service and was deputy super-
intendent of Public Service depart-
ment since 1924, being appointed
superintendent in January, 1946.
Mr. Strieker began his career as
foreman In the city highway department
in 1906, when automobiles were
a rare sight and many of the city's
streets were unpaved. He served as
foreman until 1912 when he was
elevated to the position of assistant

STRICKER-FRANKE
The marriage of MissTheckla Franke.
daughter of .Mrs. W. J. Wendt. to Mr.
Fred W. Stricker of No. 1357 Linwood
avenue, was solemnized in the Zion
Lutheran church parsonage, in .Michigan
avenue, this morning at 11 o'clock
by the Reverend Herman Brezing: Miss
Margaret B. Schwenk was the maid ot
honor and Mr, Henry Steve the best
man. After the ceremony Mr. and Mrs.
Stricker left immediately for New York
city, where they will spend their honeymoon.
They will reside in Liinwood
avenue upon.their return.

GOTTLIEB STRICKER. a lifelong
and widely known resident,
died at his home. 1357 Linwood avenue
15 year ago today at the age
of 66 years. He was a wholesale
butcher who had retired ten years
previously and was active in the
Odd Fellows, the Exempt Firemen's
association and Zion Lutheran ,
church He was survived bv his wife,
Mrs Hattle Stricker five sons.

Linwood avenue, died here today.
She was the wife of the late William
John Wendt.
Funeral services will be held Saturday
at Cooler's Funeral home. 640
Park place, at 2 pm, with the Rev.
David Henry Weeks officiating.,
Bom in Carlow, Ireland, December
26. 1873, Mrs. Wendt came to
this country at the age of 14 and
settled In this city where she had
lived for the last 62 years.
Surviving Mrs. Wendt are three
sons, Henry A. Franke. Herbert
Wendt and William M. Wendt. this
city; seven daughters, Mrs. Theckla
Strieker, Mrs. Helen D. Howell.
Mrs. Eleanor R. Phillips. Mrs.
Louise White. Mrs. Margaret Sylvester,
all of this city, Mrs. Sarah
B. Hook. Idabel, Okla., and Mrs.
Eva Bary. Rye: also two brothers,
William Tunstead, Long Beach.
Calif, Harry Tunstead, Johannesburg,
South Africa: 21 grandohildren
and 15 great grandchildren.
Burial will be in Memorial Park
cemetery.
