Beverly Anne (Smith) Marra, 83, of Lewiston, NY, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at O.L.P Nursing Care Residence. Born in Niagara Falls, NY she was the daughter of the late Edward Leo and Catherine Ann Smith.

A lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, Beverly graduated from Loretta High School in Niagara Falls, Ontario, and earned her Master’s Degree in Counseling from Niagara University. On October 6, 1956 she married Dr. Joseph V. Marra, who predeceased her on October 12, 2009, after 53 years of marriage. Beverly was employed as the Director of Nursing at Mount St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston, NY, where she truly enjoyed caring for people.

Beverly was a great advocate of education, particularly Catholic Education. She was a founding member of the St. Francis Guild, a member of the American Legion of Nurses and friends of St. Jude. She was also a member of the parents group that founded the Montessori School in this area.

Beverly was a devout Catholic and longtime parishioner of St. Peter’s Church in Lewiston, NY, as well as the former Sacred Heart Church in Niagara Falls, NY. She enjoyed reading, but above all loved spending time with her loving grandchildren.

Mrs. Marra is survived by her ten children, Orlando A. (Marnie) Marra, Esq. of Dunwoody, GA; Catherine E. Marra, Esq. of Lewiston, NY; Edward L. (Deanna) Marra, D.M.D. of Scotsdale, AZ; Anne (Michael) Orenstein, Esq. of Hollywood, FL; Joseph V. (Susan) Marra of Lewiston, NY; Judith M. Dale of New York City, NY; Michael J. (Laura) Marra of Lewiston, NY; Maria T. (Erik) Jobson of Orchard Park, NY; JoAnne M. (Jeffrey) Moll, M.D. of Shippenville, PA and Robert M. Marra, Esq. of Charlotte, NC; twenty one grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was the sister-in-law of Orlando A. Marra, D.D.S. of Niagara Falls, NY, Anna Mae Rotella of Lewiston, NY and the late Albert L. Marra; and predeceased by one brother, Edward L. (Maria Crea, M.D. of Lewiston, NY) Smith, Esq.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 from 3 - 8 p.m. at the M.J.COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Peter’s Church, 620 Center Street, Lewiston, NY with Msgr. David LiPuma officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Lewiston, NY. If desired, memorial donations may be made to Catholic Charities, 525 Washington Street, Buffalo, NY 14203.

Proprietor of Orlando's Grill Dies

Orlando Marra, 59, of 448 Portage Rd., proprietor of Orlando's Grill, 1523 18th St. for the last four years, died in Mt. St.Mary's Hospital Wednesday (April 6, 1960).
For 30 years, Mr. Marra was a partner with his brother, Costantino Marra, in the operation of the C. and O. Marra Distributing Co.
Born in San Pier Niceto, Messina, Italy, Mr. Marra came to Pennsylvania in 191. He had resided in Niagara Falls for 40 years. He was a life member o the Elks Lodge and the Moose Lodge.
Surviving are three sons, Dr. Joseph V. Marra, Albert L. Marra and Orlando Marra Jr., and a daughter, Mrs. rank (Anna May) Rotella, all of this city' three brothers, Peter Marra and Joseph Marra, this city, and Costantino Marra, Buffalo; a sister, Mrs. Sarina Gogone, in Italy, and five grandchildren.
His wife, Santa (Micale) Marra, predeceased him.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the Spallino Funeral Home and at St. Joseph's Church at 10 a.m., with interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

Mrs. Marra Dies at 56

Mrs. Danta Micale Marra, 56, of 448 Portage Rd., died Tuesday (April 28, 1959) at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital.
Mrs. Marra and her husband, Orando Marra St., owned and operated the former C and O Distribution Co. here for 20 years. The firm had been located in 18th St.
Mr. Marra was born in San Pier Nicota in the Province of Messina, Italy. She came to the United States 51 years ago and made her home in Niagara Falls for 42 years.
Mrs. Marra was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and of St. Joseph's Church.
In addition to her husband, survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Frank Rotella, and three sons, Dr. Joseph V. Marra, Albert L. Marra and Orlando Marra Jr., all of this city.
Also surviving are three brothers, Joseph and Peter Micale, both of this city, and Albert Micale, Huntington, N.Y; two sisters, Miss Mary Micale and Mrs. Frank Marra, both of this city, and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 8:45 a.m. Friday at the Spallino Funeral Home and at 9:15 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
