The marriage of Miss Mabel Brownell.
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Grant
Brownell of Elba, to Carl Coots, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Mott Coots, of this
village, on September 15th, was made
public today. Both are popular here,
where they have attended school. The
ceremony was performed at Woodhull
by the Rev. Mabel Barker of the M. E.
church. The couple was attended by
Miss Florence Jones and Wendall
Crozier, friends of the pair. Mrs.
Coots is to continue her studies in
Mansfield, Pa., Normal school while
Mr. Coots will continue hds course ih
the dental college at Buffalo

tha Albion Road. Ha leaves his
wife and four chidren, Mrs G. L.
Raymond of Elba, Mrs. Frank Bon-
hurst of Niagara Falls, Mrs. Carl
Coots of Waverly and Earl
Brownell of Columbus, O.; also a
step-son, Louis Mills of Buffalo.
Funeral Thursday at 2 o'clock.

Grant married SMITH, Bertha about 1890. Bertha (daughter of SMITH, David) was born in Sep 1872 in Rexville, Steuben County, NY; died on 6 May 1908 in Rochester, Monroe County, NY. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Mrs. Bertha Brownell. wife of
Grant Brownell of Elba, died at 10:30
o'clock last night at the state hospital
in Rochester, where she had been
an Inmate since October 22d of last
year.
Mrs. Brownell, who was 35 years of
age, suffered a shock of paralysis
three years ago last November and
had never recovered from Jt. As a
result of the paralysis her mind became
affected arid it was necessary to
take her to the' hospital. About a
week ago the paralysis began to affect
her throat and on Tuesday night
an operation was performed, but It
afforded her no relief.
Besides her husband Mrs. Brownell
is survived by four children, Mary,
aged 16; Ethel, 15; Mabel Gladys, 3,
and Sidney, 18 months old. Her
body was taken today to Rexville,
Steuben county, her birthplace, where
the funeral .-will be at 11 a. m. on
Saturday in the Methodist church,
the Rev. S. E. Matthews of Eba offi-
ciating.

received a message yesterday from
Woodhull, Steuben county, announci
n g the death of his father, Jesse
Brownell, who was 78 years old and
is survived besides Mr. Brownell, by
his wife, three daughters and a son.
Mr. and Mm. -Grant Brownell went
t o Woodhull this morning.

who was summoned to Woodhull on
Friday owing to the.illness of his
mother', Mrs. Alice Brownell, reached^
her bedside about an hour previous
to her death on Friday afternoon.
The funeral took place on Monday
afternoon. Mrs. Brownell was 77
years of age and is survived by five
children
