    Rochester. He was a long-time
    member of the Albion Elks
    Lodge.
    He is survived by his wife.

    Mrs. Bertha Brownell. wife of
    Grant Brownell of Elba, died at 10:30
    o'clock last night at the state hospital
    in Rochester, where she had been
    an Inmate since October 22d of last
    year.
    Mrs. Brownell, who was 35 years of
    age, suffered a shock of paralysis
    three years ago last November and
    had never recovered from Jt. As a
    result of the paralysis her mind became
    affected arid it was necessary to
    take her to the' hospital. About a
    week ago the paralysis began to affect
    her throat and on Tuesday night
    an operation was performed, but It
    afforded her no relief.
    Besides her husband Mrs. Brownell
    is survived by four children, Mary,
    aged 16; Ethel, 15; Mabel Gladys, 3,
    and Sidney, 18 months old. Her
    body was taken today to Rexville,
    Steuben county, her birthplace, where
    the funeral .-will be at 11 a. m. on
    Saturday in the Methodist church,
    the Rev. S. E. Matthews of Eba offi-
    ciating.

    her bedside about an hour previous

    The funeral took place on Monday
    afternoon. Mrs. Brownell was 77
    years of age and is survived by five
    children
