    Notes:

    Russell D. Brumby, age 79, of Bergholz, was called to his heavenly home on February 23, 2017 at his residence, under the care of his family and Niagara Hospice. Born in Glen Cove, NY on September 2, 1937, he was the son of the late Frederick and Elizabeth (Cruickshank) Brumby.
    Russ was a United States Navy veteran, serving during the Korean War, graduated from the University of Georgia at Athens, and taught Horticulture at the former LaSalle Senior High School, for over twenty years, until his retirement, and was a member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, in Bergholz. Russ enjoyed golfing, hunting and gardening.
    He was predeceased by his wife, Carol (Brave) Brumby on September 9, 2014. Survivors include three children, Mark Brumby, Melissa Brumby and Heather Lawrence; and a sister, Dilys McIntyre.
    Friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, March 18th at 11:00 AM in Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, corner Niagara Road and Luther Street in Bergholz. The Rev. R.P. Vogeler, will be officiating.

    celebrated their 50th
    wedding anniversary with
    an open house at the home
    of their daughter and
    son-in-law.
    Mr. Brave and Florence
    Tappendorf were married
    July 22. 1933 in the
    parsonage of Evangelical
    Lutheran Church on South
    Avenue in Niagara Falls.
    The couple has two sons.

    Mr. and Mrs. Frank B. Brumby
    of Ivy avenue, Westbury, celebrated
    their silver wedding anniversary
    on Christmas day with a
    dinner party at San Su San inn, on
    Jericho turnpike, Mineola. Mr.
    and Mrs. Brumby were married
    in East Leake, Nottinghamshire,
    England, on Christmas day, 1913,
    and sailed for America on December
    31 the same year. They
    lived for a time in Boston and
    Narberth, Pa., and have been residents
    of Westbury for the past
    19 years. When interviewed, Mrs.
    Brumby emphatically stated "we
    have been citizens of the United
    States for many years and are
    mighty proud of it,"

    Brumby runs the Havahome kennels,

    The wedding of Miss Elsie Marie
    Wink, daughter of Mrs. Mary Wink
    of 551 Morgan street, to Mr. Howard
    Charles Brave of Tonawanda, was
    solemnised Sunday evening, April 6th,
    at the home of the bride's mother.
    The house was attractively decorated
    with palms, ferns and spring flowers.
    The wedding march was played by
    Miss Ruth Thiersom,- Thfi Reverand
    Hans Horn, pastor of the Salem
    Church performed the ceremony.
    The bride was prettily gowned in pale
    blue satin with an overdress, of cream
    French lace, and carried a shower
    bouquet of Bride roses and sweet
    peas. Miss Lena Herman, who was
    maid-of-honor wore a hand embroidered
    dress and carried an arm bouquet
    of pink carnations. Mr. George
    Strassburg, cousin of the bride was
    His best man. After the ceremony,
    the wedding supper was served with
    covers for seventjvflve. Covers were
    laid for eighteen at the bride's
    table. The out-of-town guests were:

    George Strassburg of LasSalle; Mr
    and Mrs. Keischgens, Mr. and Mrs.
    C. Faessler, Mrs. E. Fries, and Mr.

    The bride was the recipient of many
    beautiful wedding gifts. Mr. and
    Mrs. Brave will be at home in Tona-
    wanda after April 15tb.
