Obituary of Genevieve Skurski Genevieve A. Skurski, age 92 formerly of Ward Rd. Niagara Falls, NY, died Sunday October 4, 2015 in Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, after a lengthy illness.Genevieve was born September 10, 1923 in Niagara Falls, NY, the daughter of the late Blaise and Agatha (Ciolek) OBara. She was a 1941 graduate of Niagara Falls High School and had attended Kelly Business School. From 1942 to 1948 she worked at Carborundum Co. During WW II, Genevieve was pen pals with a young serviceman, Frederick Skurski, and in 1947 they were married. Frederick predeceased her in 2007. Genevieve is a lifelong member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #1451 in Wheatfield. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, playing cards, as well as ceramics and many other crafts through the Cornell Cooperative Extension. Each spring for 18 years, Genevieve worked at the Wienke Greenhouses in Sanborn. The last two years she has resided in Brookdale Assisted Living on Nash Rd. where she enjoyed bingo and playing cards.She is survived by her daughters, Judy (late Robert) Willard of Ransomville and Agnes (Phillip) Ross of Dublin, OH; a son, Fred (Denise) Skurski of North Tonawanda; her grandchildren, Nicole (Michael) Janowsky, Jennifer (Thomas) Mangan, Marc Skurski, Katasha and Selena Ross; and her great grandchildren, Jarrett and Kaylin Janowsky, Alex and Frederick Mangan. She was predeceased by two brothers, Alexander (late Mary) and Stanley OBara.Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston. on Tuesday from 4 - 7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 7, at 10:00 AM in Immaculate Conception RC Church, 4671 Townline Rd. Ransomville, with the Rev. James Bastian officiating. (Please assemble at Church). Burial will follow in the Holy Trinity RC Cemetery, Lewiston. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Immaculate Conception RC Church.
