    JASPER - Robert G. Brutsman, 74, of 3829 Main St., died Sunday (Dec. 3, 2000) at
    the
    Three Rivers Health Related Facility in Painted Post.
    Born in Greenwood, June 4, 1926, a son of Clarence and Flossie Alden Brutsman,
    he had
    resided most of his life in Jasper. He had been employed for 36 years in the
    Maintenance Of
    Ways for the Erie, Erie Lackawanna Railroad as well as Conrail. He was a veteran
    of the US
    Navy having served during WWII.
    Bob was predeceased by one brother, Clinton Brutsman, on Sept. 16, 2000.
    On July 23, 1948, he married the former Leatrice Myhers who survives.
    Surviving in addition to his wife, Leatrice of Jasper, are one daughter, Nickie
    (Tom) Adams
    of Jasper; one son, Gerald (Helen) Brutsman of Jasper; five sisters, Mary Louise
    House of
    Hornell, Alice Weed of Canisteo, Wyneita Whitcher of North Carolina, Sandra Coon
    of
    Rochester and Agnes Brutsman of Seneca Falls; eight brothers, Donald (Jessamine)
    Brutsman of Arkport, Ronald Brutsman of Indiana, Alvin Brutsman of Oregon,
    Raymond (Olga) Brutsman of Andover, William (Janice) Brutsman of Louisiana,
    Dale Brutsman of
    Kentucky, Alton (Louise) Brutsman of Rathbun and Cleon (Nancy) Brutsman of
    Cameron;
    eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
    The family will be present 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday to receive friends at
    the Brown &
    Powers Funeral Home, 6 Spruce St., Canisteo, where funeral services will be held
    at 11 a.m.
    Wednesday, Rev. Brian Diffenbacher officiating. Burial will follow in Jasper
    Cemetery.

    The d e a t h of Flossie Alden Bruts-
    man wife of Clarence L Brutsman
    of West Greenwood, occurred in St.
    James Hospital, Hornell, Friday
    morning, July 13. She had been ill
    several months. She was 44 and
    leaves her husband, 8 sons and 3
    daughters. The funeral was held in
    Canisteo Monday.

    A pretty wedding took place Sunday
    evening in the East Avenue Methodist
    Episcopal church, Hornell, at the close of
    the evening service, when Clarence L.
    Brutsman, son of Mr.. and Mrs. C. L.
    Brutsman of Burt ill and Miss Fossie
    E.. Alden of Canisteo,, who teaches school
    on Burt Hill,, proceeded to the altar, at-
    tended by Mr. and Mrs.. LeRoy Brutsman.
    The ceremony was performed by the
    pastor, te Rev. Frederick C.. House. Mr.
    and Mrs. Brutsman are popular young
    people and their many friends extend best
    wishes. They will reside on Burt Hill.

    The death of Charles Lee Brutsman,
    73, occurred at 12:30 p. m.,
    Saturday. April 5. at his home in Russell
    street. He had been ill for several
    months with hardening of the
    arteries and aenemia. He was born
    in Tioupsburg Sept. 8. 1867, the son
    of the late Nicholas and Eunice Cobb
    Brutsman. He lived there until he
    settled in Howard. He married Miss
    Alice Conklin of Howard Dec. 25,
    1888. Their golden wedding was celebrated
    with a family gathering in
    1938.
    For many years he was a hardworking,
    thrifty and successful farmer
    of Burt Hill and by diligence, industry
    and honesty, he accumulated
    a comfortable competence besides
    rearing a fine family-and educating
    them.
    Their children having reached maturity
    and set up for themselves, they
    moved from the farm to this village
    in 1917, but being a tireless worker
    he worked as delivery man or the
    Lent grocery for years, besides keeping
    several cows and selling the milk
    locally. He retired from the grocery
    work after 13 years and gave his
    time to his small dairy and property
    interests. The body was removed to
    the Robbins funeral home and prepared
    for burial.
    He is survived by his wife, and the
    following children: Leroy Brutsman
    of Cunningham Creek; Howard;
    Clarence L. Brutsman of Canaseraga;
    Raymond L. Brutsman, a school
    principal in Olean; Mrs. Milton Richardson
    of Canisteo; 16 grandchildren
    and 4 great grandchildren.
    The funeral was held from the
    home at 2:30 Tuesday. Rev. E. M.
    VanNostrand, pastor of the Baptist
    church officiated. There were many
    floral tributes. Burial was made in
    Hillside cemetery. The escorts were:
    D. L. Carter, A. D. Travis, Leroy C.
    Lent, Herbert Jansen, Claude Wambold,
    Herbert Smith.
    Attending the funeral from away
    were: Mr. and Mrs. Walter Horton,
    Mabel McDaniels, Genevieve Coleman,
    Mrs. Martin King of Hornell;
    Mrs. Leona* Chapman'of Troupsburg"
    Mr. and Mrs. Karl Riebbennacht and
    daughter Ruth of Port Leyden, N. Y.;
    Mr. and Mrs. Emory Walden and
    Wm. and Alberta Walden of Greenwood

    Residents of this section were
    grieved to hear of the passing of
    Mrs. Alice Brutsman on Thursday,
    Dec. 7, at the Oaks Nursing Home
    in Canisteo. She has been a life
    long resident of this vicinity and is
    well known and highly respected
    by all who knew her. She was the
    daughter of Alvin and Rosett.a
    Conklin. She was married to C.
    Lee Brutsman on Dec. 25, 1888.
    They started housekeeping ,and
    farming on the place now owned
    by Clinton Clark and were very
    successful farmers. In later years
    they moved with their family .to
    Canisteo where they lived until Mr.
    Brutsman died In 1942. Since then
    Mrs. Brutsman has lived around
    with iher 'children until in June of
    1950 when she fell and broke her
    hip.She was in the St. James hospital
    for iweeks, and then was removed
    to the Oakes Nursing Home
    in Canisteo where she died. She
    is survived by Leroy Brutsman of
    Cunningham Creek, Prof. Raymond
    Brutsman of Olean, Clarence Brutsma
    nof Cameron, and Edith Rich
    ardson of Canisteo. Also by 20
    grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
    She was 80 years old at the time
    of her death. Funeral services were
    held on Monday, Dec. 11, at 3
    o'clock at the home of her daughter,
    Mrs. Edith Richardson and
    family Of 44 Russell St., Canisteo.
    with Rev. Geo. Upham of the First
    Baptist church officiating. Burial
    was in the Woodlawn Cemetery.
    The survivors have the sympathy
    of the community.

    The 50th anniversary of the wedding
    of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Brutsman,
    well known residents of Canisteo,
    will be observed Sunday with a family
    gathering and Christmas dinner
    at their home.
    Mr. and Mrs. Brutsman will be at
    home to their friends during the
    hours from 2:30 to 5 p. m., and 7 to
    10 in the evening.
