    Rose C. Golanka, 101 years old, passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Niagara Rehabilitation Nursing Center. She was born on August 4, 1914 in Canton, NY, the daughter of the late Anthony and MaryAnn (Wojtowicz) Niewisiewicz.

    Mrs. Golanka moved to Niagara Falls as a child and attended local schools. On November 25, 1931, at the age of 17, she married Stanley M. Golanka at Holy Trinity Church. Mr. Golanka predeceased her on February 3, 1977. Mrs. Golanka was a devoted catholic and practiced her faith until her last day. When she was younger she had a passion for flower and vegetable gardening. She enjoyed crocheting and her family treasures these handcrafted keepsakes. She was also a phenomenal cook and baker and her family has kept her recipes and Polish traditions. She also enjoyed polka dancing in her younger years.

    Mrs. Golanka was awarded a Certificate of Recognition by President Obama for 100th milestone birthday.

    Mrs. Golanka is survived by her children, Estelle (late William) Brawn of Niagara Falls; Donald (Virginia) Golanka of Sault Ste. Marie, MI; and Elizabeth "Betty" (late Daniel) Savino of Niagara Falls. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband Mrs. Golanka was predeceased by her brothers, Teddy Niewisiewicz, Stephen (Julie of Niagara Falls) Navis and John Niewisiewicz and her sisters, Frances Thomas, Julie Wackett and Genevieve Niewisiewicz.

    Friends may call on Monday from 11:00 am until 12:30 pm at the LABUDA FUNERAL HOME, INC. , 356 Portage Road with services beginning at 12:30 pm followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 pm at Divine Mercy Parish, corner of Niagara and 24th Streets. Interment in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Lewiston. Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
