    (Mario) Mallory; parents, Charles
    and Onabell "Toni" Pickett
    Buchanan; sister, Toni Buchanan;
    a niece and a nephew.
    Mr. Buchanan was retired from
    Bethehem Steel.
    He was a member of the fire police
    for the North Collins Volunteer Fire
    Company and was a member of the
    Fraternall Lodge 625 of Hamburg
    Memorials may be made to the
    American Heart Association or to
    the North Collins Fire Company.
    Burial is in Hillcrest Cemetery.

    Knavel; friend and caregiver to
    Janice "Lulu" (late Paul) Gonachan.
    Charley was a past master of
    Fraternal Lodge No. 625, past
    president of the Hamburg Chamber
    of Commerce, member of the
    Shriners and owner of Hamburg
    Window Cleaning and Janitorial
    Supply.
    Memorials may be made to the
    Alzheimer's Association.

    Mr. and Mrs. Charles E Buchanan
    of Hamburg celebrated their 50th
    wedding anniversary at a surprise
    party Jan. 20 at St. James Church
    in Hamburg hosted by their chil-
    dren and grandchildren.
    Mr. Buchanan and the former Ona
    Bell M. Pickett were married Jan.
    25,, 1946 by the chaplain at Army
    Supply Ddepot Base, Command Unit
    3990 in Ogden, Utah.
    They have two children, Harvey
    Buchanan and Toni Galone and four
    grandchildren.
    Mr. and Mrs. Buchanan owned
    Hamburg Window Cleaning and
    Painting Company.
    Janitorial Supply for 35 years.
    He served in the army during
    World War II and is a member of
    Masonic Lodge No. 625 and the
    Shriners. She is a member of St.
    James Women's Fellowship Group
    and the Sewing Mission and East-
    ern Star
    Attending the party were their
    grandchildren Darlene Hearn and
    her husband,, Rob; Sandy Buchanan
    her fiance Mario Mallory; Joe Galone
    Jr. and Leah Galone.
    Mrs.. Buchanan's sisters Patricia
    Stanger ad Marilyn Mayfield,
    brother-in-law Fritz Stanger,, and
    niecce Sandy Stacey flew in from
    Utah for the festivities.

    Church, North Evans, for Charles
    E. Buchanan Sr. a retired Lake
    Shore Central School bus driver.
    Mr. Buchanan, 67, a former resident
    of North Evans who had moved
    to the Twin Creek Trailer Court,
    Angola, died suddenly early Sunday
    morning, Sept. 29, 1974, at
    Buffalo General Hospital. He was
    the husband of the late Marie G.
    (Ross) Buchanan; father of Charles
    E. Jr., Mrs. Robert (Mildred)
    Knavel, William P. and Lee N.;
    brother of James, Mrs. Carl(Kathrine)
    Fruck, Mrs. Emory (Josephine)
    Yonkins, William, Mrs.
    Mary Sexton, Mrs. Adeline Siefert,
    Veronica and the late John
    Buchanan. Ten grandchildren and
    five great-grandchildren also survive.
    Mr. Buchanan was a member
    of the Holy Name Society, North
    Evans Volunteer Fire Co., Erie
    County and Volunteer Firemen and
    Policemen's Association, Evans-
    Brant Kiwanis Club, Evans Senior
    Citizens and the United Transportation
    Lodge 1585. Burial was in
    St. Vincent's Cemetery.

    Charles E. Buchanan, 58 years old,
    retired patrolman, died yesterday in
    Mercy Hospital after an illness of
    two years. He was taken to the hos-
    pital a week ago.
    A member of the police department
    for 24 years, Mr. Buchanan was
    pensioned on Aprill 30,, 1933. He re-
    ceived his appointment on Novem-
    ber 3, 1909,, spending most of his
    time at the Washington Street sta-
    tion.
    Mr Buchanan was a member of
    the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the
    Orioles, a member of the Erie Club
    and the Buffalo Police Mutual Aid
    and Benefit Association.
    He is survived by four sons,
    James K., a lineman in the police
    department; John R.,, William P.
    and Charles E., Jr., and five daugh-
    ters, Catherine E., Mary F., Joseph-
    ine A., Veronice F and Mrs. Ade-
    line F. Seifert.
    Funeral services will be held at the
    home, Schuller Road, Highland-on-
    the-Lake, Derby, at 9 o'clock Thurs-
    day morning, and at St. Monica's
    church, Orlando Street, near Seneca
    Street, an hour later. Burial will
    be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
